Casey, although the melbourne games were similar if I recall

To be fair - the 10 game he was concussed halfway through the 2nd and the next two were mud and rain riddled.

Fair enough , might venture to the port board an find out how his SANFL statistics went

I want Grimes in the team. Don't care who for, make it JKH and shuffle roles around.

He's had a strange year in terms of form, injury and, most curiously, his treatment by the coach/selection committee. Get him in the side for the rest of the year and let him settle into a role and see where he's at - he has earned at least that.
Yeah see I'm not so sure. While he's been ok in the seniors this year, he's just been ok. Are we keeping him long term? Not sure he has enough weapons for AFL.

Seems to be one of a raft of players we picked that either used to be good or dominate the vfl but don't have the same impact in the seniors. Id only be picking him for experience, but his past experiences are just as likely to harm us than help us!

Is he a better player than JKH at the moment? Maybe. So sure, put him in. But my take is that it's just shuffling the chairs a bit. We know what his level is, I guess we're still trying to find out what JKH's is.

He's a good defender and good reader of the play - his skills are solid even though he is prone to a couple of horror clangers a game (the rest is normally good).

Think he's got plenty of ability to play a good role for us.

Yep he reads the play well and is pretty good one on one. Whether that's good enough to cancel out the goals he gives away through those horrid turnovers is another thing. I swore off him a while back but the truth is he's no worse than the handful of other fringe players we have

I still think we should give him a try as a defensive half forward.

Someone who can defend on players like Hodge, and in an area of the ground where his foot passes wont be used as much and when they are, the damage isnt so great.

I thought when he played earlier this year (Grimes) he was a lot more conservative with his ball use. Last year he'd rack up 20+ disposals but would have 3-4 bad turnovers, this year he got less of the ball but also didn't really turn it over. Always thought he has been excellent at actual 'defending' (Whether that be playing on a man or zoning off), just his ball use hurts him.

That's a pretty good idea I reckon.

He really doesn't have many turnovers per possession at all. He probably gets more of the ball than people realise though.

Half back flankers need to be your best attacking users in the current game.

That's not Grimes.
The way I see it we need 3 dudes other than the 4 main stoppers going through there. Salem for sure when he's available, Cross has been great back there of late so there's two other gigs down to one when Salem's back. I don't see Lumumba being value in defense, I think if we are going to find a use for him it will be on a wing. Not saying he has to be an option forever but I think he should have a spot now, don't reckon Roos rates him though so I reckon he's on his way out at the end of the year.

I'm not sure what it is with Grimes - think it's mental because technically he has no issues with his kicking.

Was anyone else aware Tyler Roos was playing for Casey? Anyone seen him? How's he go?
Yeah i saw him last week. Got a few touches. I only noticed because i was in the huddle at qtr time and realised the guy standing next to me was Paul Roos. No team merch on, not official-looking, just like another punter. Saw the team list and put 2 and 2 together..

Did he recognize you?

We're obviously taking a good look at him.

Slightly surprising actually, as I thought he wasn't particularly standing out this year.
Well he's obviously working his way into the Casey seniors. Wouldn't be the worst thing.

All the talk with T. Roos was he needed to tidy up his skill - think he had more then a few handy TAC games last year.

His last game he had 3 goals and 29 touches and wasn't even named in the best for Sandy TAC Cup this year...

Well his Dad didn't have particularly strong foot skills - but it turns out you don't need them to be a 7-time all Australian and team of century CHB.

Good luck to him.

Pretty indulgent IMO. awkward position for both Tyler and his old man. If I was Tyler id want to be making my name away from the apron strings of my old man.

Pretty sure he's made his way up through the Development team and playing seniors based on that.

Should I not play cricket for the same club as my old man who has held official roles?
