Trengove and ANB are good VFL players now? Both are pretty good when they've actually had a run with it at AFL levelOne thing the dees have nailed over the years is producing players that dominate at VFL level but are only mediocre at top flight footy. Bate, Newton, Spencer, Grimes, Pedersen (though I reckon he's ok when he gets a chance, certainly better than Dawes), Valenti, Matt Jones (though I'm a MJ sypmathiser - like Bernie Vince's last 3 weeks have been way worse than Jones' but no one is calling for Vince to be dropped), Trengove, ANB (harsh cos he is young) and the top of the recent list, Terlich. Others may disagree but he kills it at that level. He's now added goal kicking to his VFL game. Kicked multiple goals from the boundary this year too. The list goes on and on too. I suppose you could look at it that we have depth, but we certainly have been good at picking those sorts of players.
I did put a bit of a * next to ANB because he is young and still might be awesome, but he's only mediocre at AFL level. Trengove was way off the pace at the top flight this year. I fear he is finished. Might be able to work it back through some pre seasons, but he seemed nowhere near AFL level when he played this year to me, but he's killing it at VFL level.Trengove and ANB are good VFL players now? I wasn't arguing your point. Was just pointing out it's stupid to put those two on there.I did put a bit of a * next to ANB because he is young and still might be awesome, but he's only mediocre at AFL level. Sure, those two might be a touch harsh but my overall point stands. Take those two off the list if you like and I'll just add another two
"Joel Smith: Joel had 15 possessions, including 10 contested. He had three inside 50s and kicked one goal. He was really impressive, particularly with the way he attacked the ball. He won some critical one-on-one contests and did some things with ease. You sit back and say ‘wow that was pretty special’. He’s a fantastic kid who just wants to learn and he’s got a fantastic attitude."
Think I posted it a few weeks back in here, might be wrong. The kid is incredibly smart on the footy field, he reads the play well.http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-08-03/vfl-player-review-round-17
This sort of thing gets me excited. Given that he has come from not playing footy at all for years to being described as 'special' at VFL level, there is a lot of promise there.
Can he take a freakish, once-in-a-century grab?Think I posted it a few weeks back in here, might be wrong. The kid is incredibly smart on the footy field, he reads the play well.
Apparently a very nice kid too
They've tried him in a few positions mate. Between back flank and forward flank basicallyIs Smith played as a HFF DemonTim?
Woweee.I reckon Jones has already started slowing down Doc. He was pathetic last week. Started playing like a chip scab Gary Ablett I thought. He should be thriving this year now he's not the only mid opposition sides need to focus on. I've been really disappointed. It almost looks like he has the cue in the rack and is looking forward to Roos finishing up.
Who?Good to here a few of the casey boys have been invited to the combine
Keilty and McinerneyWho?
Need to get McInerny's twin to Casey. Trouble is he's about a foot shorter than Oscar. Reminds me of the movie TWINSKeilty and Mcinerney

Another find like Hunt hopefully! In the one game I've watched him in he reminded me very much of Waite.http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2016-08-03/vfl-player-review-round-17

We do well for high markers. Jurrah, Howe, Farmer...Newton.We've had two mark of the century players, just one was a spud who took his mark before he got to the dees
