Not quite, at least we know he is alive.

Doesn't confirm his foot is still attached, you could easily get a kick in the VFL Reserves with a peg leg.

So i went to Sandy on Saturday, against my better judgement. Was squally rain for most of the day, interspersed with just squalls without rain. Rather chilly.

Anyway, after seeing us dominate the hell out of the first quarter and not even look like being scored against, we scored 2 goals for the rest of the game.

One thing I couldn't quite work out, was whether it is a good or bad thing that Casey are so, so similar to the demons. Play well for a quarter, then just absolutely go missing, then toil away for a goal but let 8 in a row in the other way. It is literally like watching the demons but drinking cheaper beer and standing on grass. Scary

So you're saying it's slightly more enjoyable than watching the senior side?

Absolutely the same conclusion I got from watching games. We play exactly the same as the seniors. Look like world beaters for periods, then just disappear and cop a beating for the next quarter or 3. We only seem to win when they string together more than one period of dominance.

Oh i find it way more enjoyable. Don't have gimmicks being thrown at you left and right, no blinding advertising and don't have to endure idiots for the most part. Yeah, cheaper beers help too. Also I find the footy in general at vfl matches (I got to quite a few at Vic Park that didn't involve Casey - they are free) just better and more 'real'. People there aren't 'Hawks Since 2008' type people and clearly are interested in the teams/game. I like that feeling. The whole feel is better. Bit less comfortable at times than the MCG but the other stuff makes up for it.

Then again, the fact that I'm probably a bit less emotionally invested in the result makes things better form the start I guess.

The AFL has just been shitting me more and more as the years go on. Inconsistent decisions both on field and off, pandering to the top sides, needless expansion, mostly boring footy, absolute toilet commentators and even worse media are making it less enjoyable as a sport for me. Next step is picking a local team to follow. VFL is a stepping stone for me with pretty good quality to keep me hooked.

I agree - watching VFL is as good as it gets I reckon.

Am I correct in saying Kent isn't eligible for Casey finals? He has only played 2 games in the VFL IIRC.
I thought Watts wasn't eligible. But After the mcevoy decision last year i guess the AFL really don't care about their own rules, as seen last week with allowing Norf to rest players. What i hate last year was that Mcevoy pretty much won them that prelim against my team Williamstown

"To qualify for VFL finals after the first week, AFL-listed players must have played at least six VFL games and no more than 12 AFL games during the season." from here

I would guess that the no more than 12 AFL games is probably more important than the six minimum VFL games - to allow for injury.

Oh i get it, it doesn't count for the first week of finals, but it does for the rest of the series

I thought Petrecca would be like McCartin where he would take time to develop. This is not the case, he will play AFL straight away.

No Petracca is a monster of a kid and as he's a half forward come midfielder, he shouldn't have to wait like most true key position types.
