Yeah but IMO he is always being tackled and he slows down the flow of possession because he can't break a tackle now
He can't play as a half forward now because we have Kent and Petracca who put on far better pressure
I see him now as a Daniel Cross with better kicking skills

I think it's a couple of things.

When you have a load bearing injury, changing direction with power is not good for it - hence he would have not done a lot of it for a while.

His match fitness will be down, he looks to be running games out better and better as the season goes on and can maintain a good speed for longer.

I think Trenners deserves another contract with us, at least as a rookie.

I actually think ... or I'm at least hopeful, that those eligible will be allowed to play. There is a lot to be said for building a winning culture from the reserves up. Finals footy at any level is good experience, particularly for the types who will be in line to play.

I hope so too but the Scorpions have been screwed over by the MFC in the past and it pissed me off. One year I'm pretty sure Casey finished top o' the ladder and were given two Melbourne listed players for the finals. Hopefully there's better co-operation between the two clubs now and Melbourne reward Casey's help developing our young blokes by allowing them to play finals.

I think I recall that time too and also hope that kind of 'cooperation' is in the past. I think this time it'll be much more amicable though.

AFL is a brutal game and I personally don't see him getting back to his old self but I agree we should give him another season
He deserves to have a start to finish full pre season without any hassles to Atleast what he can do

I think the majority of senior guys that are dropped atm will play, reckon Hulett does as well but they may rest the Weid just to give him a break, he missed a full year of footy last year and I'm pretty sure did nowhere near a full preseason for a 1st year player.

Casey development team has gone from 7th place to second after winning 6 in a row
Massively turned their form around, they're playing really well at the moment, and had some handy inclusions as of late.
Irritating that only 9 clubs field development sides though. Means a lot of the time the two casey teams are playing at different grounds.

On reading this week's Casey review of MFC players, I'm so impressed with what Plapp has been able to achieve this year. The development, the consistency of message, and the quality coaching that he provides - I think he's one of our better decisions of recent years. (obvs behind PJ and Roosy)

He seems very demanding and sets high standards for the players which is excellent but also obviously has a good rapport with the team that they're playing very well for him.

The boys seem to love him, and he demands a lot. He just seems like an all round good coach

Helping out with casey once my footy season ends so should get more insight

Also helps that Casey are instructed to play with the same gameplan that we do. Should have won by even more on Saturday night to be honest, was one of the most one-sided games I've seen at a high level in a while.

That's why plappy wasn't happy

Yeah I love the Casey review and the detail on each player, can be quite blunt and revealing. Seems most of our guys are flying there and given great direction on what to learn/work on to get them back in the afl side.

Looking at the teams Casey have fielded this year - pretty sure they would win against Brisbane

Experienced AFL defence
Clearance players in Michie Trenners ANB and Oliver
Goalkickets in Hulett and Weid
Outside finishers in Newton and Terli... well Newton
Decent ruckman in Spencer
Reckon they would have beaten us in that round 2 game aswell

Casey have been told by Melbourne that most, if not all eligible players will be allowed to play finals. Time will tell if they keep their word.

Great news If true, would love to see the young fellas play off together in a reserves GF like the Footscray team and even Geelong team of 2002

That's great news, I thought that might have been the case when a few weeks back Salem and JKH came back on limited minutes thru the Dev League rather than compromise the senior team in what was an important game in the lead up to finals.

I actually think there is very little surprise in this seen as most of the guys down there are older guys who are either a big chance to be delisted or are very young blokes developing..

Bull is out with illness. Perfect day for footy down here
