A mate of a mate who’s cousin knows someone within AFL House told me the 2016 finals series and ultimately the Grand Final were rigged for a Bulldogs win. At one stage in the big one, the Bulldogs received 17 free kicks to Sydney’s 1. The informant also sent me a link to the below article.

Reasonable case to make that Port should have or could have won a couple more (they were minor premiers during Brisbane's run).

Dogs did to be fair do well to get to the finals, but the umpiring was a fair dinkum disgrace in the finals that went towards the Dogs, especially the grand final.

Wouldn't say the competition's rigged per-se, but the AFL clearly puts the needs of revenue ahead of fairness and certain big Vic clubs will always end up being the beneficiaries of such policy.
