Allow me to be a typical, one eyed supporter. **** Ratten, he was front and centre when Carlton decided that they would not trade with us when it came to Fevola. Before anyone says that Fevola was trouble, MM the master man manager wouldn't have allowed him to stay off the rails.
I spoke to a young Collingwood player (who went on to be a Collingwood premiership player) during the 09 trade period when there was speculation about Fevola coming to us. His exact words when I asked if we were a chance to land Fev were "why in the **** would you want someone like brendan fevola anywhere near your football club?"

IF we don't win another Game before the Bye.

I can see 1 of 2 things Happening:

  1. Club Comes out and says Bucks Contract won't be ReNewed but will Coach the Season Out
  2. Bucks Quits and Board Accepts it and we have Sanderson or Burns(HopeFully Burns) as the Caretaker Coach
I cant see Bucks leaving before the season is out, l think he is a stayer, and will remain coach until seasons end.
In that time his job will be to blood some players eg. Brown, McClarty, Daicos etc...and give some games to guys who are on the borderline of to remain, trade or delist..eg. Oxley, Blair, Broomhead etc..
As l wrote in a earlier post, l think come rounds 16 or 17, and finals are surely out of the question, the club will announce that Bucks will move on at seasons end, a mutual agreement and the search for a new coach begins.

It's ironic that to neutral Fans who don't barrack for the pies, Buckleys coaching reputation was enhanced after last nights performance not eroded as many here have attempted to do.
Not really - those same neutral fans wouldn't pay much attention over a longer period. Three good games against quality opposition (and a fourth against what was essentially a NEAFL side) does not even get close to excusing the repeated lacklustre possibly-not-even-up-to-VFL-standard performances almost every other week.

Just for some perspective this is the fifth year he has been playing with his team and his game plan(s) - not counting 2012 there as that was obviously inherited on both fronts for the most part -and it's pretty clear that the game plan doesn't work, the players clearly don't have enough work put into them in any area to be able to produce on a consistent basis (especially above the shoulders) and the gulf between our best and worst is as wide as it has ever been.

I'm not a sack the coach supporter by any means, but it's clear to blind Freddy now that, barring a sudden and shocking reversal of fortune on the order of Bomber Thompson's with Geelong in 2007, Buckley's time as senior coach is pretty much done and dusted at season's end.

Translation: We would have to give making the top 8 a real shake from here for Buckley to be senior coach next year and even then that might not be enough (not even sure if actually making it into the top 8 would do it to be honest unless we win a final).

Now this is not to say his senior coaching career would definitely be over - I know hindsight is 20-20, but personally I think that going back and learning the craft in supporting roles within a strong system at a successful club or two might give him the seasoning he always needed in order to have a genuine crack at being a successful senior coach (just not at a club he has played at).

Don't know if it's all Buckley, doubt really it is. However clearly we are going in the wrong direction and the coach is always the first change and in this case I feel that it is going to and needs to happen.

Not sure why you have a problem with last nights game plan - it was 45sec from getting the chocolates.
We outplayed one of the flag favorites for large parts of the game, and apart from Cameron we had a strategy to control their huge contingent of stars.
It's a game plan that is hard to criticise after last night.

well they were 2 players down for 3 quarters and 3 players down in the last quarter, they have Deludio Griffin Hopper and Haynes out compared to none of our players out, and after we hit the front we could have flooded the backline.. .but we didnt.
so strategy might have cost us in the last minute.

I'm not disagreeing that our best is competitive with any team in the competition - even our results this year (as inconsistent as we have been) make that clear. Having said that a game plan doesn't just have to work in a particular game, it has to work over an entire season and then be able to evolve to be successful across multiple seasons in order for a club to have a genuine tilt at a premiership.

When you look at our club it's pretty clear that any game plan we might have goes out the window virtually every other week.

For whatever reason Buckley just hasn't been able to get any consistent sort of game plan rolling for the past 4-5 years, because we've been doing the exact same thing every year since 2013 (some good performances against quality sides mixed in by some absolute stinkers even against lesser sides).

Can you honestly say even to yourself that you think we'll produce something close to what we put up on Saturday arvo next week, based on how we've performed this year (or in the past several years)?

I'll remind you again - this is the fifth year that he has been in full control of the team and game plan, so it is not unreasonable to think that there should be at least some signs of consistency (not to mention a certain degree of mental / intestinal fortitude) now, as opposed to looking good one week and jogging around like depressed lazy headless chooks the next, even if we're not expecting our boys to produce at the same level as the elite of the competition at this stage.

None of our players out - don't you rate Treloar and Varcoe?
They are best list in the competition and flag favourites and you can't get any joy from how well we played last night.
Sorry we didn't get flogged by 10 goals.

Consistency is the problem - get that right and the evenness of the competition may be what saves our season.
