Maybe you should explain how we guarantee his replacement wins a flag.
You make it sounds so easy.
Ofcourse that's the real issue.
Flags so hard to win, next guy in, give it just a bit of time, he'll be bagged mercilessly.
Every club board that loses a bit, does the same thing.

One thing football clubs haven't worked out yet, all the undiscovered football geniuses are on the internet.
They make it seem so easy.

Funny thing there are 18 blokes in the afl as head coaches all giving their all to win a flag.
Only one will succeed this year.

And that's the only measure anyone judges coaches, they won't admit it because that would betray they have no idea who is a good coach, only flags will allow them to call anyone really good.
Nobody ever talks about bob Rose as a great coach for example. No flags, must be a dud.

True, but those people don't have a solution, so they attempt to appear to be relevant to the discussion with their "sack everyone and burn the place to the ground" mentality.
If you take that away from them they would be mute
It's the exact sentiment that gifted Trump to the world and yet I think it wasn;t the worst possible outcome ( A choice between cyanide and strychnine is never really a choice)

You'll be surprised how many clubs go into a yr thinking they're a legitimate chance. If you look at Rich Melb St Kilda Footscray etc.. guaranteed their culture does not revolve around winning premierships.

It's the 4 or 5 possibly less that establish their culture around one thing.. that is 'win premierships'.. that actually win them.

Our culture should revolve around 1 word 'premierships'.. and every thing should branch off it. That's where we're getting it all wrong.. we're not here to establish a group of upstanding citizens.

If your culture revolves around premierships.. now how do you go about winning em.. only a select few clubs have figured it out.. the rest get lucky from time to time.

Whatever happened to the 'Bloods culture'?
Yes, they recruited some big names on high contracts...but has that really affected their culture?
Or, are they just on a natural decline after x amount years at the top?
Culture is indeed subjective & is over used when evaluating/assessing a particular Clubs success or lack there of.
Did the bottom fall out of Hawthorns culture overnight...I seriously doubt it.
Culture...schmulture...

We used to be about winning flags ........................... when we were winning flags like the hawks cats and swans of late, but that was back in the 20s to 50s

Ive become apathetic towards the coach. It's just sad that if he can't manufacture a win over this depleted shadow of a hawthorn team the seasons over.

Put up as in not comment.
So can we give Buckley 10 years and the kitchen sink?
Even though Bucks hasn't had 10 years like MM, I doubt MM would've been held onto if his first 5 years were like the ones we've just had.

I like Buckley much more as a human being but he hasn't performed anywhere near as well as Salty Malty in the coaching caper, up until now anyway.

Shame too, I wanted Bucks to succeed as a Collingwood coach.

For all his faults MM was a good people manager and motivator, skills I fear the incumbent does not possess

Alot of it has become satire-ish mate sit back and have a laugh playing on his continued selection.

Every team is in the business of winning premiership that's the whole basis of their existence.
And the best team understand that upstanding citizen are the primary means to achieve this.
Clarkson the most successful coach of the modern era is a firm believer on this, that's why he dumped Garlett very early. Those types are a pox on every club.

And Ange Prostecoglu the socceroos coach makes the same point - always make sure you recruit with character in mind.

Actually there are also those here, that want the club gutted, just to satisfy their perverse, and misguided indulgence that massive change solves everything.
Not gutted for the sake of satisfying our dissatisfaction. But wholesale changes to address obvious issues.
What's going through the heads of the decision makers who spend $2 million dollars on Mayne. Who's taking responsibility for that. You dont spend $2m without the board agreeing. Easily the worst decision in club history.
Does the selection commitee discuss with Bucks the selection of a midget to play a key position forward.
Who decides a 7 foot rookie should take the place of a premiership FF, rather than help him with the kicking yips.
The spine of the team has been traded or degraded over several seasons to the point it barely exists.
I don't see quality decisions being made. I don't hear other club supporters talk about how we're building a good team, I hear them laughing. As a club, we aren't ticking many boxes, and I doubt it's solely due to the coach.
Bucks will go, but I'm certain the problem runs much deeper. It may not need to be "gutted", but it shouldn't be just Bucks.

i wasnt going to comment but i cant let this go.
The club was gutted after 2012 and beyond on the basis that Buckley beleived it was the way to go... and he has said that repeatedly that we will improve in 2015 2016 and 2017 repeatedly.
the Side looks nothing like it would have looked if MM remained
(and before we get the blah blah is better than blah blah and ning nong was cooked and joe blow was too old, the recruits we got in would have been totally different cos the different coaching philosophies means different types of recruits were needed)

Your posts are usually well thought out, this one not so.
You cannot stop having a dig at your fellow supporters. You berate That's Gold for being negative for the past 5 years (and evidence to date suggests he was correct) but then you slag everyone off who doesn't agree with you.

You've changed man.
