It's what I saw last night man. Some sunshine filtering through the cracks. Now that I said that they'll probably go ahead and break my heart again next week...
They still look like somewhat of a confused messy bunch even when theyre going nuts.. hard to pinpoint why.

Buckley was right about Mitchell, he is an accumulator and doesn't really hurt a team. GA he ain't!
I know he had 14 possessions in the first quarter and Buckley seemed to have a couple of players on him including Greenwood at times but I would like to know what real damage he did after the first quarter, how many of his possession were involved in a score given that Hawthorn only scored 5 goals in total after quarter time.
He is an ideal player if playing supercoach, I had him during his time at the Swans.

Hey Jimmy long time no speak, you ever thought we wouldn't have to do it this hard if our coach wouldn't make monumental blunders that even a work experience kid on his first day at the helm would be embarrassed of?

How about playing your best tagger on the other mob's best mid, or maybe just maybe playing Cox on the dry night after he's actually earned the call up and we've lost Reidy instead of gifting him games in the wet, or gawd forbid not thinking that someone like Blair deserved to be retained in the first place and was capable of being our sole target in the forward 50 at times???????

Watched about 3/4's of the game but didn't see any game changing moves, that win came purely on the back of our boys lifting the work rate and Hawks fielding arguably the worst side in over 10 years.

Despite having a rep of a "hater" I've been known to give Bucks credit where it's due, for last night's win he gets big fat nothing from me.

Yeah mate no doubt there continues to be mind boggling selection and match day **** ups for sure. Blair one, no extra tall for a stretched Hawk backline and no tagging job for Greenwood just the latest this week in a long long line of mysteries.
Last night though I'd suggest the match winning move was actually what they've been training to do (I hope) quick precise ball movement which they brought after halftime to go with that increased work rate. They don't do it an Buckley wears it so when they do credit Bucks for trying to implement a winning game style. Obviously nowhere near enough of it though of course and plenty of time to have had to show more.
Worst Hawk side in a long time no doubt but still plenty of premiership quality there but if they bring starts like that against better sides it's going to be ugly. After last weeks hearbreak a flat game was always on the cards for this side because they're so flaky and one of Bucks shortcomings I think is his lack of motivation for the side to overcome situations like that.

Still should've tagged him with Greenwood, that's his best role.

Greenwood was on him in the first quarter and I thought that when Buckley moved Greenwood forward helped our forward line.
Don't have a problem with the move. As I mentioned, Mitchell was one of my first choices in Supercoach but rarely hurts teams.

Even if Buckley does coach well.. we can get so much more from other coaches.

We played agst pensioners and newbies last night.. and barely got over the line.
Another ridiculous swipe at Bucks - here's the most glaringly obvious question for you.
How is it that the best coach in a generation could not coach his team to a win after leading by 36 points?

Clue - it's the same reason Bucks has struggled for 3 years that you conveniently ignore.
So Clarkson is excused for losing when his list is ravaged by injury and needs to play inexperienced youth, but when it comes to Bucks you unfairly whine he can't coach, because these same issues are not an excuse.

This all sounds logical but it's a well know fact that we would have won easily last night if buckley wasnt coaching..

There was 2 bits of vision on the TV last night where I would loved to have been a fly on the wall and heard what was said. They maybe a telling moment in the future of the Collingwood FC?

Firstly Bucks ripping into the players at quarter time, and good on him.

Secondly in the rooms after the game, Geoff Walsh pulling Bucks aside and talking firmly with him. Would love to know what he said. Geoff is clearly having a major influence in what's going on!

Out of the whole Gubby debacle, we got out of jail with Walsh coming back.
Phew.

Loved Walsh with us the first time, no issues with Balme* just was wary of Gubby, glad we managed a "win" by getting Walsh. Phew.

* as an aside, Balmes injury reports were a work of art, from Picasso, to Rembrandt to Escher he had it all, sometimes, on ocassions, week to week, medium to long term, maybe we think. Sheer genius.

If we'd lost I feared for Bucks' job.

If we end up bottom 4 it's going to be hard to silence the sackers.

But we should keep him - when we're good, we're very good, it's just taking time to build the consistency.

He needs to stop being everyone's mate though

Elliott was asked what Bucks said at half time which caused the revival. He replied...Nothing. Elliott said that the forwards asked the midfielders to be more aggressive with their kicking I50 to give the forwards a chance and not allow the Hawks to push back.

So the players have to do Buckley's coaching for him? Actually that sounds about right.

Players with the Hawthorn and Geelong teams of years gone past, said the teams both coached themselves

Thats true. I am friends with an ex-Geelong premiership player who said that as the players had total buy in to the game plan, believed in it and knew it so well, they knew their role and what had to be done. However, there was a lot of work (and trials and errors plus wins) to get them to that stage.

Team has turned the corner the last fortnight. They are contenders. Bucks is the man.

Needs to coach the year out followed by a review. Club should just dead bat suggestions there will be a mid year sacking.

Thorough review at the end of the year in its totality but finals are on the agenda considering everyone else is falling over.

(Just play the 2nd half game plan week in week out).

Mitchell was BOG to be fair. I laugh when everyone says stats are useless yet uses stats to justify their position.

He single handedly with their small forawrds beat the pies mids 1st q and won the ball time and again. Just it was unsustainable and he had no back up.

As to the tag? Most teams don't use it, pies sparingly. IMO if he plays Greenwood is a tagger and could've gone to him.

Bucks did a lot right thou and outcoached Clarko which is saying something.
