This article is a bitter pill to swallow but the truth.

This why everyone must go.

The coach must go.
The assistances must go as a new coach needs his own lieutenants.

The recruiting department must also go…they've been poor for too long.

Look at that list of players in that article- there's no way they make for a premiership model.
D GRADERS is being generous.

Again it doesn't contradict my point and it's not a mistake, I never said he retired at 2012 said he retired beforehand so I'm still correct, nice try though you almost got me. You need to just accept the fact you can't use the player x was cooked argument anymore it doesn't hold up. You can clutch at straws all you and cherry pick all you want but you're going nowhere.

Try and spin it any way you want, you're the one who specified your post was specific to 2012. The ghost of Trent Croad had long left the station. A simple "yeah, sorry, I shouldn't have included Croad because he's not relevant to 2012" might have been the best response. Do I need to check the other players?

I eagerly await your comparative list assessment post where you assess each list, relevance to the team of the player who left, who the club had on their list already to pick up the slack and/or who they were able to bring in so that we can see the merit in your point.

You were making calls about gameplan within the first few games of 2012 and you want to assess others as having no idea? Many who hated Bucks' appointment from the start love to point out that the gameplan wasn't changed much so Buckley couldn't be assessed on his first year. Where does that put you? Enlightened or NFI? Embrace the latter.

Many take into account a number of variables when making an assessment. You take into account how many of your own fingers you've broken.
You could actually see we played crap in 2012 but our star players got us over the line many times. I remember arrogance after we won 10 in a row by the coach even though we were playing shithouse and the writing was on the wall. Once our stars fell away we are where we are today.

Success is cyclic and there is no avoiding that
To be more accurate I think you mean that is the intent of HQ and they've put mechanisms in place to attempt that. But so far it is not cyclical, have a look at the landscape over the last decade. There have been few teams with dynasty periods and the rest high and dry apart from the odd bob up like us in 2010 and that is reality

Harvs apparently just finished coaching school with honors. Couldn't see him having much Mongrel in him though. Maybe Sando? Hope the club is already searching (knowing Bucks is going one way or the other).

Do you think we have the cattle with the right coach at the moment? I think on paper we should be a lot better than we are.
For me whether we have the cattle or not is not the question. It is the direction we have taken and it's been all down hill.
We haven't played with any kind of grit or heart on a regular basis. I can't see 1) who's in our best team 2) who are the next generation coming in
3) who are the understudy forwards/defenders

There are teams that are getting the best out of their lists we are not and it's simply the coaches job to do that

You are incredibly valid in your arguments but I have one strong issue with it.

Consistency in effort and intensity comes with experience and age. Only with years and pre-seasons under the belt come sustainable efforts. How would you feel another coach who the boys have zero emotional connection will get this 'consistency in intensity' out quicker?

No doubting we all love the same team but my strong feeling is that emotion plays an incredible role in professional sport. The overriding feel I have is that we played in 5 Grand Finals over 15 years (including the replay). 8 finals series on the trot. Some clubs would kill for that, most clubs actually.
The club follow that with a concerted and strategic effort to rebuild the team for a sustained period of success and as human beings, psychologically we simply cannot 'wait'. Patience will pay off here but have to stick fat with a bloke who is Collingwood, not only a job, but is Collingwood.

I'd ask you all this: if someone from outside the football club takes over next year and creates a winning season % wise on the back of Nathan taking the hits and making the hard calls, how would you feel?
Ok dream time is over !!! cut the losses there in no sustained success with our current list and current coach. After 6 years in which there would have been some indication of a direction why on earth would you expect this to magically change. ? Snap out of the dillusional romantic notion that it's all going to turnaround and Buckley is the man to do this. You remind me of one of those religious freaks blindly lead to believing everything their cult leader says and does. Pert spouted we would win grand final in a 5 year window.

This blind faith in Buckley sickens me. He was a champion player but a dud coach. The facts, stats and history are there for all to see once you open your eyes !!!

Will coach for carrots.

And I promise to resist the natural temptation to select Mayne...
We'll hold you to that.

You even think about picking Mayne for anything other than cleaning out the pisser, and the screens will be going up...
