Really? It's all based on Bucks being jealous?
Well I'd say there would be a fair bit of jealous there. I mean imagine, all these so called unprofessional louts in the rat pack easily obtaining a flag in 2010 without you while partying yet Bucks can't get the cup no matter how much partying he abstains from. You don't think that would burn? That louts could get something you can't even though you bang on about bad culture and how awesome you are to anyone that wants to listen??

Now, you're probably right. Jealous ain't the only reason. But the leaking, and that's what I'm talking about, leaking to the media, it is just petty. It's teenage high school girl type stuff. And that consistent level of leaking never happened with MM, or Tony Shaw or Leigh Matthews.

Quite honestly, it's pathetic. He should be sacked for it. Him and Pert. And it just sums up our last six years. You got admin blaming players. You got the coach blaming players, recruiters and ex coach. You got recruiters blaming the coach. Etc etc. And it all gets leaked to the media.

It just didn't used to happen under MM. Don't get me wrong, MM made mistakes. The Jason Cloke and Josh Fraser comments weren't good. But at least he had the nuts to say it publicly. Team Bucks just leak it anonymously

So we now have a president who is basically admitting that because bucks is a favourite son he is being afforded as much time as possible to save his job. If this was a listed company and Eddie was CEO he would be marched out the door by his share holders for irresponsible in incompetent management. Being a club champ should have no bearing on the decision to persist with a coach.

Meanwhile ed has just put in a submission to change the name to the collingwood boys club.

I have my doubts there is a better candidate out there in 2018 than Bucks.

That's a bit rich. Eddie slamming media speculation about Bucks and what's going on at our club.

This is where his media presence does us no favours. Eddie is one of the sharks, involved in feeding frenzies at other clubs. But is upset and outraged when it happens to us. It undermines his position, and makes a joke of his communications to us fans. If ever we needed a President showing leadership and engaging in dignified discussion about our predicament, it's now.

Live by the sword...

COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire has launched a passionate defence of embattled coach Nathan Buckley, slamming the “hysteria” surrounding his future.

The club announced publicly this week that they would not make a decision on Buckley’s position until the end of the season, with pressure building on the under fire coach.

His Magpies are currently 5-10 on the season, with finals becoming a longshot having dropped into the bottom four following a disappointing defeat to the Bombers last week.

However, McGuire slammed the constant speculation surrounding whether he would be handed a contract extension, labelling the speculation around his future as “absolute rubbish”.

“The hysteria this week has been something that has quite shocked me and quite appalled me,” McGuire said on Fox Footy.

“The chief executive officer went down, spoke to the players and said that there will be no announcement one way or another on Nathan Buckley until the end of Collingwood’s season.

“That’s all there is to say. The rest of it is just absolute rubbish.”

Out of contract at season’s end, many have questioned whether Buckley’s record this season will be enough to see him coach into a seventh year at the club.

However, McGuire dismissed such claims, suggesting Buckley will be given ample time to prove himself as Collingwood’s coach throughout the remainder of the year.

Asked whether there is a chance Buckley earns a contract extension, McGuire said: “Of course there is — we’ve got seven games left.

“I don’t know if you’ve looked at it, but there are seven games to go. That’s nearly a third of the season. Things will be judged on the entire season.

“This year, in no particular order, Alastair Clarkson was worn out at Hawthorn, John Longmire was gone, Ross Lyon couldn’t coach to save himself, Ken Hinkley had overstayed his welcome.

“What’s going on? It’s absolutely gone mad, this stuff.”

Buckley said this week that the players had “lost a bit of hope” after a fourth straight loss at the hands of Essendon, though McGuire stressed they remained right behind him as a senior coach.

“No one is feeling it harder than the president, the coach, the players, the CEO and everyone at the Collingwood Football Club,” McGuire said.

“The players haven’t dropped their heads. The players, to use the vernacular, are playing for the coach. The coach is coaching for the club.

“This is a bloke who would never do the wrong thing by Collingwood. We won’t do the wrong thing by him. We’ll always do the right thing by the Collingwood Football Club.

“The board of the Collingwood Football Club, elected by the members, have said they will stand by Nathan Buckley and that decisions will be made at the end of the year.”

McGuire also said Buckley remains fully committed to the club, stressing that both parties still have full trust in each other.

“He trusts the people around him because we do things a special way at Collingwood — we look after our own,” he said.
“If there’s one bloke that we’ll look after — it’s that bloke on the screen. He has given his all to the Collingwood Football Club. He’ll get every chance to achieve what he wants to achieve at the club.

“Decisions will be made at the end of Nathan’s contract."

Eddie SLAMS the Buckley haters.

"He needs more time".
It's funny listening to McGuire last night.. his validation for keeping Buckley on board is precisely what I'm against. What do we owe a legend of the club in the coaches box? Nothing McGuire!!!!!!!

I read this as a "smoke and mirrors" statement. He is just trying to deflect at this stage that Bucks won't be there next year.

Agree, he's just buying time and trying to control the media.
Once we are required to look for a new coach that becomes the story and the endless rumours will only get worse.
Also if they sack Bucks now they have to instil a caretaker, which can't be done without consulting BF first.

I nominate this inanimate carbon rod as caretaker

For those that like to read between the lines, tell me if you say anything in what Clarko said?
"I am contracted and I think it's disrespectful to talk about coaches from opposition clubs. I know from our point of view, we are in a little bit of a transition phase with our footy club," he said.
"We have had a lot of change at our club, in particular, in the last 12 to 18 months – president, CEO, football manager, captain, have all changed.
"It's pretty important that the coach doesn't change as well. As long as the club wants me to continue, and they do in terms of my contract, then I will be at Hawthorn."

It's great tv to watch I reckon.. rivetting.

To have McGuire sit there and go nuts on the media.. instructing Brereton to ask questions that are to McGuire's favour. No hard hitting questions on where we got it wrong. F the media really. Typical bougeios behaviour. Onya Grand Master McGuire. The greatest bougeios of them all.

Perhaps we can review McGuire's work as a journalist as well.. if he wants to have a crack at journalists writing crap.. I'm sure there's many examples of where this bougeios got it completely wrong to sell papers. Hypocrite! Whatever suits you bougeios!

Perhaps we could review your work as a Collingwood man as opposed to Ed's Gimpy?
I sometimes enjoy your stirring, but most of the time its just drivel that belongs on the terraces at Liverpool. For all his Broady Boys mentality Ed has had our club in his heart all his life and he lives and breathes for the club and its people. Now as a media man he also understands HOW the media can be used or can undermine clubs and he's not about to let that happen. So if he rants and raves at Derm (the two are best mates btw) maybe he's buying us some time to make decisions in our time and not John Ralph's, Robbo's and Caro's.

All your negative, disrespectful tripe wouldn't amount to one minute that Ed's put in for our club (or Bucks for that matter, or any player or official past or present) so just for once, take your gorillas and get out of your chair and go and do something POSITIVE for once.

I remain respectfully yours....(just sick of the negativity that stems from the uninitiated)

We already know that a decision on Buckley won't be made until the end of season. Eddie's comments just re-iterated this. He's hardly going to come out and say Buckley's a trash coach now, with seven rounds to go, is he given that we know that the decision will be made at the end of season?

Why are people getting so worked up about his comments?

Negative disrespectful tripe? Ok what do you respect about McGuire? His appointment of Buckley without giving due course? Now I've got to show respect to a bougeios who 6 yrs later has a 33% win record? You know what.. the second Buckley resigns.. is the second I'll pop open the cork mate.
