Take a look at the video of the players singing the song after the game. It was certainly sung with a lot of gusto compared to normal. Take a look at the celebrations after Reid's last quarter snap also. Regardless of whether we think the rest of the season is full of junk games or not it's pretty clear the players will take pride winning as many games as possible to round out the year.

For the people that want Buckley gone, as a hypothetical, if the players wanted Buckley to stay, would that change your mind at all? We're all aware that allegedly Buckley was coaching "Mick's boys" at the start of his reign. This might have affected those years somewhat. It's obvious that the results haven't been on the board for the last 4 years but if the players are buying into Buckley's vision and truly believe that finals aren't far away would getting rid of Buckley be a mistake?

FWIW, I'm still on the fence, likely until around 23, and this isn't me trying to make a pro-Buckley case. Just a possible hypothetical situation.
All valid points. If he stays there has to be massive change elsewhere. If I were him, I'd be insisting on it.

It will be indeed Dead Eye.

I believe Collingwood are a better than even money chance against WC in Melbourne, who are just insipid away from home.

There are some quarters out there who say Buckley is already cooked - if so - then the result is irrelevant on that front. I for one have no idea which way they will go. If our illustrious President still holds a candle for Buckley into 2018, then these games are very important. It won't take much for this game show host to sway the masses, as he has done successfully over the past 5 odd years. As bizarre as it sounds, 2 wins in a row might just do it.

But then again, Buckley being reappointed in 2018 may not be the worst outcome (sorry Gimp and others). Make no mistake, I don't wan't him at the club any longer than necessary however I would argue that he is the least guilty of the 4 perpetrators involved in his original and ongoing appointment.

For what it's worth, IMO hereunder is the list of guilty parties in order:

1 Pert - manipulative
2 McGuire - emotive conflicted (throw Kelly in there as well)
3 The Board - insipid self interested
4 Buckley - in my humble opinion, Buckley is only guilty of being Buckley. A square peg (himself) in a round hole (in a role that requires man management of a diverse group of personalities). Again, IMO, he was always going to fail in this role and the tangible evidence would suggest this has played out to script.

So if Buckley is removed at the end of the year (as is warranted mind you), do the other 3 parties get away scott free? I would argue that this is not right. So maybe extending Buckley will expose the other 3 parties, and rightly so, because I can almost guarantee that this list under this coach will not materially improve relative to other competing clubs out there (excepting say CG, North and Brisbane) in 2018 and beyond (naturally others will have opposing views). And hence, we will likely stagnate in the bottom 4/6 for the next few years. Maybe this is what needs to happen so as to force permanent and positive material change at Collingwood.
He's also guilty of being a shit coach.

So the players should there careers are on the line and I have never met a player who wanted to lose.

Supporters can take a step back and to look at the bigger picture. Which is higher DP higher our chances of landing a star.

I'm sick of commoners saying 'the players are playing for Buckley'.. why am I saying this? BC it's quite rare for any coach to be disliked by the players. So whoever steps in.. the players will come to admire 90% of the time!

If there was a coach who the players didn't like it was our premiership side. Which puts Buckley in the rare category of being disliked by the players at some point during his coaching career.

Commoners need to take a note from this here bougeios. I'm not some Thomo IGA gypsy.

I am perplexed. Why does anyone care what he does over the reminder of the season? This is YEAR SIX! If you need to see anymore then you clearly have not been watching. For McGuire to state he has x number of weeks to prove himself is just treating the supporter base with utter contempt. What more is there to see? He has failed at just about every key aspect as a coach, list build, player development, game plan, selection. The only area he has done well in is talking to the media.

That being said.. I just offloaded a gorilla on Buckley coaching next yr and having romantic dinners with McGuire at the Vue De Monde.
What commoners don't seem to understand is how bougeios look after their fellow bougeios.

Why do you think Buckley is rumoured for a high rank position at the AFL? Because he's a commoner? Ti Les re.. he's a bougeios mate.
Yeah Bucks is the kind of bougeios who buys that imported boerwors jerky by the kilo load from the IGA deli. But I'm confused now Gimposs, I thought you were self confessed bougeios but you seem to despise them and their IGA shopping ways. That must mean you are one of the elite or is it self loathing guilt? I vote the latter because the elite don't eat pumpkin seeds mate.

I have my doubts there is a better candidate out there in 2018 than Bucks.
Ok Adz. Glad you have the insight of all available options and how they compare to Bucks.

What has Buckley done for anyone to actually believe he has a clue what he is doing?

I'm confused by this word bougeios... what does it mean ? Surely not the same as..

noun, plural bourgeois.
1.
a member of the middle class.
2.
a person whose political, economic, and social opinions are believed to be determined mainly by concern for property values and conventional respectability.
3.
a shopkeeper or merchant.
adjective
4.
belonging to, characteristic of, or consisting of the middle class.
5.
conventional; middle-class.
6.
dominated or characterized by materialistic pursuits or concerns.
