I am perplexed. Why does anyone care what he does over the reminder of the season? This is YEAR SIX! If you need to see anymore then you clearly have not been watching. For McGuire to state he has x number of weeks to prove himself is just treating the supporter base with utter contempt. What more is there to see? He has failed at just about every key aspect as a coach, list build, player development, game plan, selection. The only area he has done well in is talking to the media.
Exactamundo!!

Our VFL side is also shit, Buckley has ****** us royally.

Spot on.

Winning a few meaningless games at the end of his 6th season proves nothing. He had a good run this year. Injuries were just normal, decent draw and has failed miserably

I think even Buckley's harshest critics would acknowledge that after the weekends win, he deserves another year.
Unbelievable effort. Some will point out they had 2 players down and are shithouse, but Bucks has lost to them previously when they had 4 players down (including Ablett) and they were shithouse.

It's not a talent scouts job to determine a player's work ethic afaik, that falls to the recruiters and it's why such extensive interview processes are undertaken.

All scouts are required to do is identify which kids have the right attributes to make it at AFL level, it's hard to determine work ethic effectively just watching a game from the sidelines.
Scout was also keen on Stewart which I found interesting. Also reckons Mr Hine plays his cards very close to his chest. That only 2 others in the recruiting team might know who he is picking.

Interesting to know. He's unloaded some interesting perspective on our club over on EBnW the last week. Worth a read.
We almost need someone to copy paste every single interesting thing off EBW to a post in here. Save us all the frustration of navigating back to the stone age.

Lol. I just find the word Scout in the page and read what he has to say. It's rare to get an insider glimpse at the club. He's also a Pies fan.

Scouts posts about the coaching situation are interesting... I could start a thread. It would be better if if he just posted on here himself!

Yeah think it's part of why he's posting more now that he's not connected to the club. Very interesting points about how other teams know how weak we are in the coaching box.

I reckon we give him another year for each win he gets from herein....ever!

That should keep Ed happy and Buck as coach forever....but then again we're going backwards so eventually he will finish on zero wins for the year.

Last time I was there, I couldn't tell if I was discussing Chris Egan or stealing launch codes from Desert Storm.

If you could find and post that comment or give me instructions on how to navigate that site, it would be greatly appreciated, (not just by me I'm sure).

The season is over. Big deal if we beat the eagles.

You can't have a horrible season and win a few meaningless junk games at the bank end and expect to keep your job.
Well l think if somehow Bucks wins 3 or 4 in a row, calls will be made that he should be given a 1 yr extension, and the calls will start from Ed himself.

The Scout:

Is the box holds both rigid and trendy thinkers.
And I simply don't see any of them being seen as elite assistants.

If you look at Clarko, he has surrounded himself with critical, independent thinkers. As did Bomber and as does Longmire.

Nathan has his best mate and a heap of ex team mates that have learned to accept he is single minded. I believe we should be more active in appointing quality thinkers (preferably from successful programs at other clubs) rather than the Pebbles, Tarkyns and co that we have developed ourselves

I say this having great respect for NB - who is a gentleman and a scholar. he is not the issue, but those connected to him are...so who do you blame?

I can say this, one of my good friends is a coach (rival club) and he says its well known that we are weak in the box - which is not a criticism of Nathan per se.

I blame this on those in the pay scale above NB. Pert has made it impossible for Nathan to have any traction with his box...walsh in then out, eade in then out etc etc

I for one would subscribe to keeping Nathan and going on a full sweep out of everyone else...but thats probably too generous to NB
