I think he is still looking for JPK who also couldn't be found against Geelong.

But one is untouchable and the other is a whipping boy.
When have Parker ever been tagged. JPK was scragged, held or pushed every contest but the limpit Scooter. JPK fights every time, Parker doesn't.

Fun fact: Parker was massive against the Lions, Roos and Saints to get our season back on track.

Does resurrecting a season from 0-6 count as downhill skiing now?
Against 2 very weak ( being nice ) times and the other doesn't defend well (Saints).

You are in the wrong thread
Unfortunately this is painfully accurate.

We tend to have a fair bit of leniency in the draft and trade threads as they are really just a speculation zone. But a reminder to everyone: please keep the discussion somewhat relevant and do not personally attack other posters

I was championing Aliir's cause because he shouldn't have been droppedfrom the team in the first place. Was hardly given a chance this year, as opposedto Reid whose had year after year (not including 16) to become a good player and it just hasn't eventuated. Never puts his body on the line, goes missing every second week, his tackles are weak. This isn't me "not liking" him, it's me not rating him.

He could be useful at another club but we are contending for flags. Reid has an equal amount of crap games as he has good games, so then we sit here surprised every time he is useless in an important game. It's just unacceptable that he's a lock in the best 22 and a massive indictment on Longmire imo
He's a bloody good marking fwd. If we don't win the ball, and deliver he can't mark it in the fwd 50.
But he also is a very decent extra man down back, reads it well, solid decision maker. Can pinch hit in the ruck too, and is fairly active in that role - though not really sturdy enough. Handy on the edges of the ruck at times.
Not sure what else the guy could do to impress you. He can probably juggle....

Do you want a whole team of Parker/Hewett/Heeney/Newman/Mills types?? Horse, is that you?

Sooooooooo Goodwin and the club tell him to explore his options, his manager does exactly that and finds that there are a few clubs out there that would not only welcome him but quite possibly give him the career his natural talent and ability says he should have and now they want to play hard ball????

Righto then.......

No wonder The Melbourne Football Club has floundered for so long. As my dear departed mum always said, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Perhaps the whole thing was a motivational exercise to make sure he actually comes back in good shape next season.
Did I read somewhere he was concerned about his clothing label if he moved interstate? LOL I don't think statements like that add to his trade value.
(Though Sydney might be the best place for that kind of thing - certainly better than Adelaide).
2nd rounder is good value for us.

He's not perfect but given he contributed a hell of a lot to us reaching so many finals he should get a little more respect. Take Parker out across the first 23 rounds and there would be no finals for us to worry about.
Spot on.
He is doing fantastically well. How old is he again? Should be coming into his prime now, but has carried a tremendous load the last few years and been outstanding. If he gets beaten at the very end of the year by the very best midfields and coaches plotting our downfall, does he suddenly become a dud? Ridiculous.

My point about Reid is that, in an ideal world, he'd be a great asset. Who doesn't want a swingman who can play as a marking forward, a loose man in defense and a back up ruckman? But there's no point being flexible enough to play in multiple positions if you aren't going to do well in them. He's hardly thrived in any position, even when he's in his natural role as a forward he can still look no better than a soft passenger a lot of the time.

So yes, ideally Reid would be a gun and we'd have the luxury of this great swingman and role player. But because he's average, he ends up a passenger quite a bit, in which case we might as well give up on the swingman/second tall forward player and bring in a Parker, Hewett Heeney type you speak of. At least then we'd have a solid contributor

Yeesh, Anyone read the comments coming out of Melbourne re Watts today?

Mahoney has basically delivered the list management equivalent of dragging him out into the street in front of the neighbours, bashing him with a garbage bin, and then pouring the contents on his head.

Lovely place the Demons, by the looks of it.

Oh...but despite rubbishing his committment and his performance and his leadership...he's still worth a number 1 pick. :thumbsu:

Any takers for Gaff? Didn't I read he was on the table? I've never paid him much attention, but he's an elite runner and outside mid, right? Probably cost us Hewett and a 2nd rounder?
