Sorry to intrude but just wondering whats the go with Aliir and why is he not getting game time?

Thought he was a revelation last year playing well and beyond his experience.
I rate him myself as well. But, when you don't turn up to training or don't do what is required of you by the coach, you will get dropped.

Your intrusion is welcome but this is a very dangerous can of worms you do not want to open on this board.

I told you dusty to Sydney. its very rare that you will get inside mail confirming a actual players movements definitively.

What i know:

1. Based on information coming from a prominent premiership hawks player. That Sydney were a front runner for martin and the hawks were annoyed as they have been at him for a few years now. Further, Dane Swan was a large part of the reason, he is looking interstate.
2. A family member of mine, who works within a professional sporting capacity in Sydney had stated that their was discussion being had.

All the information given was from two different sources, not known to each other within a month of each other.

I can't categorically state that the information is true. Nor can I predict what decisions will be made by the player, management and our club.

But, if any betting institution offered decent odds, I would lay a sizeable bet on it.
I genuinely hope you're right.

He was dropped after a poor game against West Coast in round 4 for Lewis Melican who has performed very well. Regained his spot in the senior side for the round 7 game against Brisbane but unfortunately missed a training session and lost his place. The team's good form and settled defense since then has meant Aliir hasn't been able to break back into the side. He also sustained an injury along the way as well, recently been tried in different positions in the reserves.

I know we're talking about Richmond here so anything is possible regarding list management. But Dusty is a restricted free agent and Richmond have the right to match the offer. Surely they'll do that no matter what the contract. Hes their best player.

I'm pretty sure no-one here is going to let a little thing like a few facts get in the way of a good story here... ;)

I'm not sure but I think it was Punts who started this ball rolling and several different posters have been gleefully giving it a shove now and then!:p:D

Posted this on the D&T board Dusty thread - have a close friend at the Swans (not in recruiting) who was honestly surprised to hear me talking about a possible Dusty to Sydney move. Happy to pm about the conversation and some other topics that were broached, nothing overly groundbreaking, just thought the Dusty surprise was interesting as their seems to be momentum on this site re him and Sydney.

Hypothetically he will become a Swan. . It makes more sense that he will remain a Tiger though.

To be fair, I bet that same staff members wouldn't have known about Buddy either.

(Well most of the club didn't)

Personally I don't want any more "awesome pick ups", even though I do agree with you. We have a highly-paid star with Buddy, plus a heap of others who we will want to lock down. Would just be reckless IMO
If the propsed situation is Jones and Reid leaving for Martin, the only question I have is Reid. Martin for Jones is an obvious move. We don't have anyone who can readily replace Reid and I think the associated rumours of Casboult are fun but I believe he will be surprisingly expensive.

I still don't think we need anyone to replace Reid. It's not essential to have that HHF/swingman/marking target in your team. It's certainly handy but we would survive without him. We would not survive with yet another huge salary going towards one star player and another crisis of depth. I say just let some other team throw the kitchen sink at Martin

Totally agree. We're really building a super strong team for the future. The nucleus of this squad could be together for at least the next 3-5 years. There are a lot of good players who will need a top up in that time. If a big name stops us being able to grow as a team organically then I'm not interested.

If Reid goes then I'd love us to chase Brander in the draft

I tried to do this on the main board but got laughed out of town. But if Reid was in the open market what would he be worth as a trade. I thought 8-15 but most people were suggesting end of first at best. It's elementary as he's restricted but I'm just curious what your thoughts are.

15-20 imo.

Doesn't command games enough for a higher pick, has little room for huge improvement given his age and development, has slight durability concerns, but still a very handy CHF.
