All the Carlton posters talking about how Kruezer is invaluable for his bollocking work around the ground, his contested possession rate, his clearances, and his tackles, and his goals must really really love Nic Nat who can actually win a ruck tap to advantage as well.
Wait, who doesn't love Nic Nat?

B: Jeremy Howe, Alex Rance, Elliott Yeo
HB: Sam Docherty, Michael Hurley, Rory Laird
C: Zach Merrett, Joel Selwood (C), Josh Kelly
HF: Dustin Martin, Josh J. Kennedy, Gary Ablett Jr
F: Eddie Betts, Jeremy Cameron, Joe Daniher
R: Aaron Sandilands, Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane
I: Clayton Oliver, Seb Ross, Scott Pendlebury, Lachie Neale

Yes I have 3 Dons, but I truly believe Hurley is a top 3 backman, Merrett a top 7 midfielder and Daniher a top 3 KPF right now.
Oliver and Ross ahead of Marc Murphy? Dreamin. Murphy hurts teams with his disposals

if we seem overly attached to kruezer for that reason, it's because we suffered through years of robbie warnock who was a solid tap ruckman but a total liability everywhere else on this earth.

Well for one thing this is a strange comment because he hasn't been mentioned (other than laughing at how bitter Sweet Jesus is at life) in this thread since page 60, from Sunday night.

And Naitanui hasn't been mentioned once? Why would it be Carlton fans talking him down?

Jumping at shadows?
I just don't understand why they are so against the idea of putting his name up for consideration, considering he has played at an extremely high level all year without a single average or poor game all year. He would be one of a handful of players that can lay claim to not player a single below par game all year.

But they "particularly WCE fans" for whatever reason react like we're abusing their mum by suggesting it.

All the whole suggestion only states that if Grundy favourite, surely Kreuzer name should be put forward.

I personally think Ryder has been the best Ruckman for the year and if you're going for the tap ruckman only, then it's Sandi.

I see Rance & Franklins reputations are keeping them in the conversation for AA... both would be in the 40 but not the 22. Better options at both positions.

Rance is #1 in the league in 1%ers (spoils, smothers, shepherds, knock-on) per game and #2 in intercept possessions per game.

Franklin is #1 in the league in score involvements per game and #3 in goals per game.

But yeah, they're just getting by on reputation

Rance is comfortably the best key defender so far this year in my opinion. Franklin is up for debate but there isn't really anyone that far ahead, Kennedy yes, Cameron probably, Hawkins? Not quite? Daniher? Not yet at least. Franklin has definitely made a good case for being AA in 2017.

Both deserve to make it if chosen. Rance has been the best key defender in the league so far this year and is almost no chance to miss and while Franklin hasn't been at his absolute peak I'd have him as the third best performing key forward this year behind Kennedy and Cameron but he would be a chance to be pushed out by Hawkins or Daniher.

Jared Polec has been the best wingman in the comp this year
Andrew Gaff has been a lot better than Polec and that there is no doubt about. Rory Atkins, Shaun Grigg, Jack Macrae and Zak Jones who have also played through the wing this year can mount a big argument to be in there.

It's a sad day in football when people are using a player's price in a fantasy game as an argument as to why they are better.

I believe he's essentially just copy-pasted footywire stats which also happen to include supercoach/fantasy prices.

Gaff has been average at best. Stop just looking at possession numbers and SC points.

Franklin absolutely should be in the conversation, Number 1 in disposals for Key forwards and averages the same amount of marks as the other contenders and is coming 3rd in the goalkicking. Its him and Cameron as the key forwards for me.

Like I said, I do believe they deserve to be in the 40.
I'd take both Robbie Tarrant & Daniel Talia over Rance at this stage (Hurley too but he's been played more CHB this year so probably not competing for that spot). I think all 3 of them have had better years than Rance to date.

As for Franklin I'd have JPK & Cameron as the 2 big forwards over him. I'd put Franklin on par Daniher so far this year. Both have had good & bad games and both don't deserve to be in the 22 just yet for various reasons but will definitely be in the convo as the season progresses.

I get frustrated with the media hype that often drives these to players into the conversation when other smaller name players are having better seasons.

Just one mans opinion. I might actually try and piece together a best 22 at some point - could be fun.

Interestingly enough if you picked a team based on SC points Gaff wouldn't even get consideration for a midfield spot. He has the third lowest ranking among the top 20 ball winners in the league and ranks 58th overall.

Yep, Franklin is having the type of season you expect from a player of his reputation. Statistically he is practically identical to last season when he made the team. It would be hard to argue that he isn't in the mix particularly given that he can easily be named as a third-tall HFF, which doesn't really apply to other KPF.

You mustn't watch Seb Ross.
Have to agree to disagree I suppose because in my biased view Murphy has been better, like in your biased view you will say Ross has been better, and then a Melbourne supporter will come along and tell us both (again) that Oliver is 'unprecedented'

Fair. And of course you will have a slight Essendon bias if 2 players are worthy and ones a Don.

I'm not saying Seb has definitely been better, but his disposal is a lot better than you're giving him credit for. Comfortably our most reliable kick imo, ahead of Billings, Newnes and Roberton
