I don't know why so many aren't at all fussed by Lever making the squad, yet so many have strongly thought Burton wasn't even close to it.

On paper Burton has had a better year I reckon.

Get Bont in. Winning games for us again and again.

Zorko is a star as well. Absolutely freakish pressure player.

Yep Zorko is amazing. Imagine how good he will be as the support around him improves.

The Lions have a real gem!

Actually if you bothered reading the thread many are saying Lever shouldn't have made the squad. Same goes for Burton, correctly left out.

I didn't say there wasn't. Nor was I arguing for Burton's inclusion. Just pointing out that there's so many who are happy to let that one slide through but lose their mind when a player who's had a better season has had his name put forward.

Thats incorrect, 7 out 10 kicks from both Adams and Treloar are effective. Thats not bad considering they play as line breaking midfielders.
Im tipping WC dont have any mids kicking at 90-100%??

You do realise someone kicking long to a contest is "effective" right

Such a deceiving stat that it is almost meaningless. I use my eyes instead

And the WC rant is such a desperate strawman. If we had any decent consistent midfielders - they'd have been nominated. We don't and therefore they haven't.

Lol at the Melbourne salt about Clayton Oliver. You could be watching a Melbourne game and think oh yeah, he's probably had 20 touches only to look at the stats sheet and it says he's had it 35 times. Has very little impact for how much he has it, is just an accumulator and nothing more.
He's got some work to do for sure. But his ability to rip the ball out of a contest and get it to a free man is elite. Certainly ahead of bont this year. Cert not ahead of seb Ross who had an underrated season

The comparison you put up actually favours Lever doesn't it?

The stats are funky. Lever's stats show up under Burton and vice versa.

Lever 21 contested marks to 10. Lever 103%ers to 63. Lever 170 intercepts to 120.

Anyway not sure why they are being compared, Burton is more of a flanker than a key defender. The hype for both > the output at this point.

Good eye, sir. The comparisons are likely due to similar age, build and role for their teams (CHB merged with rebounding half backer).
The majority of the darker sections on Levers side. I could be wrong but it just looks that way
As Scotland has correctly noticed the stats (everything under games played) for each are attributed to the wrong player. I intentionally did this to see how many (not necessarily Crows supporters) would blindly jump in and make the case that "Lever's stats" were actually better than "Burton's stats". Effectively making the argument themselves that Burton (based on these stats at least) was better. This wasn't with the aim of proving one was better than the other (I think they're actually considerably on par with each other), but simply to see the extent of the bias I'd alluded to in my OP. Unfortunately for this experiment there's too many with a good eye for the numbers.

And just for the record, I don't consider your post to have been one of the "blindly jumping in" with bias. You merely made the correct observation that the majority of the bolded stats are on one side. Like I said, those stats (or the ratio of those in bold) don't mean one player is better than the other.

Those stats are wrong. If you take Burton's lowest 3 possession games this year and it is higher than the average listed there.

Edit: Well played.

Heard a stat a little while ago that said of Treloars 55 odd (at that stage of the season) kicks i50 only 1 had been marked.

Sounds a little high.

People can come on here and bag opposition players for been selected in the AA squad, but the fact is these players have been selected because they are quality players, who have had quality seasons.
And yes l do realise what a effective kick entails. You, me and Joe Blow may not agree with how a effective disposal is recorded, the fact is that they are and officially recorded and archived by the AFL.
