I'm not asking for a superstar, just a solid player who can come in right now and play the position we need.

I looked at Pruess, and yes I agree he might fit our needs. But Naismith has been with Cox for a year now. Look at the improvement in Sinclair, and think how that might be applied to Naismith. I'm willing to give that another year, with Cameron continuing to bulk up and learn his role under Cox.
For mine Pruess' scope is a lot higher than all 3, and he suits playing as the single ruck actually, and would allow Sinclair to be that 2nd tall up forward.

This years 1st and the 2019 1st. I wrote that earlier...
I'd rather have a crack a top end talent than go for gold coast rejects.
Wouldn't be enough. They would want a guaranteed top 5 pick for Cerra. Neither of those picks are going to be in the top 10. Stop looking at points, Freo would want top end talent to replace Cerra if he leaves.

They could be in the top 10....
Yeah and it could also be pick 15..

It's just not enough.

They would ask for Mills or Heeney and rightly so from Freo's point of view.

Forget Cerra though he'll go to Victoria and with St Kilda and Carlton having top end selections Freo will get the value they'd require.

I'm sure the swans could put in some effort to get the deal done. If another player is required they have cap space & a familiar coach to make the sell
That other player would have to be Heeney, Mills or Parker. Two blokes barely worth more than a 3rd won’t get a top 5 selection. GC are not that silly.

Lloyd is in AA form+ our first round pick and Heeney, mills or Parker. I think you have grossly overestimated pick 3 value
Lloyd needs the ball given to him & is just a link player that can kick accurately if it's no longer than 25 metres & the opposition know that now & apply plenty pressure to him.
A 350 -400K player at most with where we are wanting/needing to take our list.

Izak rankine with pick 2 or 3 off Gold Coast for Lloyd and our first rd pick (and whatever else needs to be done) is all the swans should be concentrating on in terms of contracts. This is presuming Lloyd is getting offered a lot of money he can't refuse
Rankine isnt leaving SA and if he does the club that drafted him is getting a 2 year rental.

18yo kids say one thing. 20yo adults looking at top dollar contracts in top 4 clubs say another

Worst case you'd get what you paid for him back
Worst case is he becomes a bust and we get nothing. Can't guarantee he'll turn into anything, Schache chosen at pick 2 goes to the Doggies for pick 25 & 40 because he was homesick at age 20 - despite signing a new contract.

There's always that risk but if you respect talent identification strong case that Rankine is as dominant and freakish as any mid/fwd that has come through the juniors system

worth paying attention to him if GC have the pick that could get him and we're dealing with GC heavily in the off season

I reckon we need good kicks. Guys like Miles and Tyson, whilst they may be good, tough inside mids, will only contribute to our current problems stemming from poor disposal. Although it may be more difficult to attain an inside mid who is also a good kick, I think these last few seasons where our poor disposal efficiency has often hurt us means that we need to set our standards a little bit higher. Having better kicks will go a long way to helping us transition out of this game style and create a more high scoring, attacking game that actually enables guys like Buddy to get the ball delivered straight to them.

That may mean paying a bit more for someone like Brayshaw, or going to the draft and ensuring we get a kid with elite kicking, like we did with Florent.
I mean let’s face it, the fact that one of our most talented kids in Heeney has become one of our biggest turnover merchants tells me that we are just destined to never have players with elite foot skills. Give Florent a year or two and he’ll start butchering it.

We just need some inside mids that win clearances.
