Have a crack at pick 1
Lloyd plus 1st rounder plus 2019 first rounder for pick 1 and a 3rd or 4th rounder for currency in the Blakey pick.
We need top end talent.
May as well throw in Franklin & Kennedy if you’re gonna rape us that much. **** me, how does anyone come up with this shit...the Veale deal all over!

I want Miles. He may have flaws but he also has assets we need. I wish we recruited him 2 years ago.
We don’t need miles. It’s 2009 all over again we need to find the next Kennedy and McGlynn. Miles is the type of player Carlton would pick up to plug a list hole, play mediocre, then delist after 2 seasons. This club isn’t about that

We need some inside mids, I will go absolutely nuts if we trade our early selection for a defender. Mids, mids and mids. That is what we lack.

Deffs need an inside mid but not just any. We need the next big thing that hasn’t been unleashed yet just as Kennedy and mcglyn were in complementing Goodes, jack, okeefe and hanners. This time we need a couple of young guns to complement heeney and Parker. That’s the only way we can push for something in the next 3 years. If we pick up blokes like miles it will be a long road to no where

As a delisted free agent we could do a lot worse than Miles. I'd rather someone like a Lonergan though. We need some grunt, we literally have no inside mids after JPK especially when Horse plays Dawson forward for some ridiculous reason.

Top 10 plus the LLoyd trade (likely), plus two second rounders and maybe an extra 3rd (Newman + McVeigh to GC proposed deal) and we should hit the trade and draft hard.
If we give Newman a run for the next 4 games does his trade value go up a bit?

Lloyd trade is spent on Blakey? If anyone bids on Blakey before our pick... (Geeze he seems to have a narrow frame through - wasn't present when god was giving out shoulders?)
With our pick at 9 get West or Collier - Dawkins.
In addition we need to go hell for leather to get another REAL top tier mid IMHO. One of the top 5. Athletic, elite kick, elusive is what we lacked again in the middle. Smith or Rankine maybe - right at the top end.
3 of the above really sets us up for a run at it. I'd rather see those 3 getting a run with us next year than Buddy trying to drag us barely into the 8.

Really? How do you know he’s going to play mediocre? This club is about success and having been around for a fair amount of despair...I’d take anyone that is going to bring value (and hopefully a Premiership) within a relatively short timeframe. Think about what you’re saying...do you think Franklin was recruited for his indigenous good looks? Settle, settle, before you even suggest the $10M 9yr contract...he’s here to win and he’s here to win flags!

I would be shocked if Newman is able to get anything back. If any team is actually interested in him (which I find unlikely) they will just wait for him to be delisted and then pick him up.

My point is, he’s giving away the kitchen sink.
Hardly......giving away this years 1st just allows us to have Blakey paid for with later picks...
We'd get the young South Aussie CHF and Blakey now in 2018, tactically this is much better than waiting for our 2019 first round pick as it speeds up the rebuild.
We could pick up a few free agents just to keep us semi competitive so the young forwards still develop.
