Live Event The 2019 NBA playoffs thread - Round 1 and Conference Semi finals

Welcome to the 2019 NBA playoffs thread (🧵). Here you will find intelligent, well structured and insightful posts related to the first round of the playoffs.

This year City Hall has decided to keep all round 1 posts contained in a single thread. This is not purely to boost up post in thread numbers. Not at all.

As you can see below, the teams have been set after arguably the NBAs greatest closing to a season since Kobe hit 60 in his last. It also marks the 6th consecutive year the LA Lakers have missed the playoffs. If it wasn't clear before, it's crystal now - the Lakers need help from City Hall.

You will also notice some numbers followed by the % sign. This signifies something, probably probabilities of winning. My money is on Team TBD to take out the title.

Posters are free and encouraged to provide a preview to any series they wish.

To the supporters of the battling teams, good luck.

May your news be good news

By the way.... I am going to be one of those guys that just turns up for the playoffs here and then pretends to know everything about basketball and talks s**t.... Will I need to take a number?

You are lucky that all posters on this board are well researched, educated and respectful of all opinions.
No need to take a number

My predictions:

East:
Bucks def Pistons 4-1 (Bucks too strong, pistons probably take one at home)
Raptors def Magic 4-0 (cant see much hope for Magic)
Nets def 76ers 4-2 (Just have a feeling this will be the upset)
Celtics def Pacers 4-2 (Healthy Dipo flips this result imo)

West:
Warriors def Clips 4-0 (yikes)
Nuggets def Spurs 4-2 (Denver a little too good)
OKC def Blazers 4-2 (I think this will be a popular 'upset', Nurk loss brutal)
Rockets def Jazz 4-3 (home court decides this one)

Bucks in 4. Blake on one leg, they've got no chance
Raps in 6. Every year i say the Raps will have it easy, every year they fail me....
Sixers in 5 (assumin Embiid is fit)
I could see the Pacers causing Boston some problems... heart says Indy in 6, head says Boston in 6

West
Dubs in 4
Nuggets in 5
OKC in 7... could easily see Portland pinching this
Rockets in 6.

Having a better look at those percentages.... Were they put together by a dart board?

Houston only 60% might be the worst?
Looking at it, I’d say the percentages stem from comparing regular season records. 9 win difference between Warriors and Clippers compared to 16 for Bucks v Pistons. Silly way to do it, but that’s my take on the basis of the numbers.

Series underdog
Portland +115
San Antonio +190
Utah +320
Los Angeles +10000

Indiana +450
Brooklyn +500
Orlando +800
Detroit +2000

LAC paying 100 to 1.

Not quite the 26% :p

I just can't see how the clippers have a 26% chance of winning, maybe 2.6% at best. Warriors in 4, easily.
Feel like the Thunder will beat Portland (they've won 5 straight, and the Blazers are without Nurkic by the way). It's far from guaranteed but Thunder should definitely be favored here.

Edit: Oh, and the Thunder went 4-0 vs. Blazers in the regular season

So this marks 22 years in a row that the Spurs have made the playoffs, what a great achievement.

Lets look at other notable playoff related stats as well:
The Mavs haven't made the playoffs in the last three years
The Lakers haven't made the playoffs in the last six years.

Suck it losers...
