In 33 games across 18-19 which was his second and 3rd season he kicked 47.41 from 195 marks

In 30 games Ben King has kicked 41.29 from 95 marks

Yet apparently King is this generational behemoth and the other is an average player.
Calm down TK, wasn’t the point I was making and I certainly never said either bloke was average or generational that’s you putting words in my mouth, I said Makay wasn’t worth 800k plus

No one should dispute he's highly talented.

I'd prefer not to give up $800k a year for any KPP who hasn't produced at that level, a midfielder is different given they tend to be easier to predict development wise.

Happy with $500-600k to lock him in.

Would like McKay. He's also way more mobile than he's being given credit for, he just plays a deeper role at Carlton due to Casboult being the one who roams higher.

Could recruit ******* Godzilla and it won't matter if we don't get some more blokes who can kick it roughly towards him.
Exactly.

Swap Oscar MacDonalds for Ox, Neitz and Wiz but idiot midfielders still bump heads trying to take ball from their team mate. Because they are dumb and the game plan is dumb.

Also development is crap (how many Demons follow one good season with rubbish? T'mac was good once, Harmes was good once, Weidemann goes from being "Get around him! Weeeeeed!!!!!" one minute to "Says here Sam is playing, has anyone seen him today?" the next).

And even if we do form a "once-in-a-generation" forward line to go with the greatest midfield ever... as soon as Mr. Bookmaker says "how good is this Melbourne side? $1.10 for the win today!" we'll kick 3.17 while the wooden spooner won't miss even one single sausage from 75 metres out.

Deep cultural and psychological issues + questionable development + coach is gimp = doesn't matter who we trade we'll suck anyway. Plus I don't want "premium" trade-ins because the only time we don't MASSIVELY overpay is when they're Essington leftovers.

Whoops, bit of a rant there.

No need to sell the farm for a key position player in trade period the draft is littered with key prospects this year hence the decision on small forward and good ball users last year after initial pick.
Key to this year is trying to enhance position and move up the order 2 even possibly 3 places.
There are 3 clubs with spots in top 7 which will not be looking at recruiting a key forward.

We have been paying Tom McDonald $750k the past two seasons for producing absolute donuts.

Paying a guy like McKay 800K instead of 600k to get him across is not a stretch, especially when you consider it over the course of a five year contract.

You have to take risks if you want the pot of gold, or be content to float between 7th and 12th on the ladder for the next four years.

I would be happy with McKay, and it makes sense given the Blues current position.

But... a monster offer is not a great, unless it is back-ended and incentive based.

He's talented, but hasn't proven tonnes and is unreliable in front of goal.
Yep he clearly has talent and I’d have no issue with him at Melbourne, but not at 800k plus and not for what you’d have to give up, don’t think he kicked 20 goals this year so it’s all projection at this point and that shouldn’t earn you top of the market dollars for 5 years

He is on close to $1m a season. Still want him?
1 million a season is less than we're paying the combination of Tom MacDonald and Braydon Pruess.

I ****ing hate the guy but he's worth it.

Seeing reports of Viney "weighing up his options" and considering North or Carlton makes me feel sick in the stomach.
Meh, Vineys a very decent player and something needs to change at our club. Leaves more room for Brayshaw in the midfield and another more effective mid.

Vineys best game makes Oliver redundant.

IMO we're a club bereft of genuine leadership. That's what Viney has that Oliver hasn't.

+ Viney hurts people. The only other person on our list who has a claim on that is Vanders and since 2018 he hasn't brought that or anything else.

Oliver's 21 or 22, plus Viney doesn't do much for on field leadership except try really hard which is no more than Hibberd.
When was the last time Viney had a huge last quarter in an important game? 2017 against the Eagles? We had Jordan Lewis last year and won 5 games. This year without him we won 9. One player doesn't make a difference.
