What does AVB offer apart from a tough tackle every few weeks? I admire him but more than happy to let him go - he rarely impacts games.

I'm still keem on him and I think we'll get the deal done but hopefully there's something else involved like a future pick.

It was mentioned on the AFL website. We've apparently floated both ANB and AVB.

I think it is pretty obvious we are using 2 second rounders for Brown, else why the pick swaps. Now that North knows we have all these picks they certainly will be asking for them, knowing we don't really want to take them to the draft. Hopefully I'm wrong and we flip these new picks for a first rounder, keep it, and use a second plus change on Brown. Either way it will be very interesting to see what the plan is for all these new picks.

Reckon North would want 2 semi decent picks for Brown because they are starting their new build, but I'd think 26 and 33 would be a bit too much from our point of view given they can't realistically trade him to anyone else.

But we wouldn't want to be total jerks about it because obviously we are into him, so maybe we'll end up slinging picks 26 and 50 for Brown, or 33 and 43 for him, seems either scenario would be a fairly reasonable deal for both sides given the circumstances.

If we give 31 and 33 I’d say maybe we get a future 3rd back as well. If we can land him for one second rounder then happy days.

I think it's highly unlikely Brown will cost us two second rounders. It seemed to be reported that the buttering was between North wanting pick 26 and us wanting to give our future second instead. Now that we don't have a future second I'm fairly confident that Brown will be traded for one of 26, 31, or 33, it's just whether we cave in and accept their offer of 26 or hold strong and give up 31 or 33 for him.

Just because they were aiming to use him in the media when they got him doesn't negate the fact that he was always an asset who's value would improve which I told you it would before this trade period. So nothing hindsight about it old chum

I'm nervous, especially given what TMac served up at a similar age this season coming of a sh*t year the year prior like Brown will be.

With the caveat that it is possible his knee is cooked....

Im still struggling to see how a triple Coleman medal winner under 30 is worth anything less than a top 10 pick. If we get him for anything less than that its purely due to North Melbourne's mismanagement. Regardless of what the trade ends up being, we should be biting their hand off. For the deal to end up a loss to us, he would need to be TMac levels of spud for the next 3 years.

Im not sure how anyone could look at our forward performance this year and think there is a team who needs Ben Brown

No but I'll spell it out for ya because you're struggling. They are on star money just like 4-5 other players on our list. Probably one of the reasons we can't trade for a bunch of role players
