Taking my 8 year old daughter to her first A-League Women's game this afternoon - Adelaide United vs Western United. Even though she was really angry watching us lose to Argentina in the FIFA World Cup this morning, she was still desperate to go to this afternoon's game despite it being on the opposite side of the city to us.

Loved it (as did I). I’ve never been much of a soccer fan, but I think that converted me. Despite low scores, it was anything but the bore-feet I thought soccer was. Seeing the game live and being able to see what was going on on the entire pitch (not just whatever the cameras are able to show on a game on TV), made it a lot more exciting, seeing all the moves and tactical plays in action. We were frustrated and disappointed with the result, but it didn’t dampen her enthusiasm. She wants me to take her to the next AUW home game on the 27th, and we’re also going to go to the Sydney vs Perth women’s game at Leichhardt Oval on the 21st of January, as we’ll be holidaying in Sydney that week.

Is there a reason why Perth Glory women haven't played a game since Jan 15th. I see they're scheduled to play Feb 4th. That's a 3 week break between games.

They had one of their senior players red carded too in that previous game and subsequently suspended for 3 games. She'll be waiting a while before she gets back on the park.
