Disappointing to hear from Hately as work ethic was suppose to be one of his strengths. He was good in the SANFL and first few games at GWS. Watched him in 2020 at AFL level on a wing and was quite possibly one of the worse players I'd ever seen. At least it didnt cost us much.

Wasn't bad in the SANFL today.

so… who’s gonna play the lockdown role on Aliir Aliir for us?..

the Dogs, with schache on him, showed everyone last year what you need to do to stop ports rebound out of defense and thats make Aliir Aliir not only accountable but play on him as if hes the forward and you’re the defender at times... it destroys his “float around taking intercepts with ease” game, clearly unsettles him and stunts the powa’s movement out of defense..

gollant maybe?… or himmelburg?

Forget running with him. The key is to hit up targets leading at you and quick direct entries. Slow movement awaiting risk free options prior to going long and deep plays straight into his hands. Having a player lagging behind him won't make much difference.

If you don't have a plan for when slow ball movement happens, you've lost the game before you've stepped on the field, because even the quickest of teams will run into scenarios when they can't go.

Should we be running with Alir? Probably not, it's a preseason game and really, we probably want our forwards trying to build some form being forwards. Should we be tagging Alir when we meet them in a few months and when winning matters? Absolutely.

If your entire forward delivery strategy is devoid of any risk then you may as well not even step on the field in the first place. Long and deep should be the last resort, not your 1 wood.

Of course, but you do need it to be accounted for in your planning.

If you can stop a player like Alir being effective in a proper match, you do it every day of the week.

Which of our players would you have in the top 50?

Yeah he'll do.
Bulldogs do have Macrae, Daniel and Bailey Dale coming up as FA's, as well as Tim English and Bailey Smith coming out of contract with the WA teams supposedly ready to offer English a deal. Imagine you're busting out the cheque book for Macrae for sure, Dale too, could certainly see a salary squeeze where someone gets pushed out.

Dunkley being one year off FA is irritating. Would cost us a first round pick just for that extra year

Would have to be an end of round 1st rounder at best unless a team is deperate for him given he'll be out of contract....and contingent on him being regular 22 at the Doggies this season. He's a good mid but he's nowhere near the real top guys.

Laird will probably just sneak in to the last few spots.

Are they ignoring Seedsman because of his injury?
I don't know the answer to that but Rowan Marshall that high is also ridiculous, good ruckman/Utility but the 14th best player in the League at this point? No Way.
