we had a massive go. gave other people dilemma. both Carlton and GC had to scramble. Made our picks come in as much as possible.

fantastic effort for having a go. short of bidding for players too early, there is nothing they could have done. if we had gone down that path, clubs would have known and increased risk they would do to us.

Well, no, if they didn’t have the points they couldn’t.

The accepted logic is we calculated they couldn’t or wouldn’t match. They did so we had to pivot

Trade up we did seems like throwing away a F2, but looking at who was left available after Lindsay, was the trade up really to guarantee the Addinsall bid couldn't be matched, or because if it was matched we would be drafting the next talent tier down at pick 20 instead of 19?

I refuse to believe the club is this inept, that they wouldn't bid on Patterson but instead rely on an 80 point (post 10% discount) difference in points between GC being able to match and not. Especially as live trading means GC could always find a way to bring extra points in.
