A lot of people blaming Massey, but this is a list management issue.
He only rates the kids by talent.

Obviously they rated Allen higher than all our NGAs and FS. So not his fault.

The fault lies with not enough list spots. So the bloke handing out contracts (Clarke -list manager) has cooked this.

Seriously what more did Charlie have to actually do? Played well for our Beagles team, absolutely shone in the WAFL finals, played solid for WA...

This sets a pretty shit precedent for future NGA/FS coming through when despite everything the club can still overlook you in their backyard.

Realistically was Banfield going to be any better than say Dev? I get that he was a father/son but when you take the romanticism away of that, I'm not sure if he was going to project as a consistent AFL quality mid. I may be completely wrong though.

I'd suggest on balance of evidence that Banfield is a higher end prospect than Dev from his size and athletic profiles alone.
