Banfield legit looks like he's got some potentially elite AFL quality traits to his game. Was really bullish about the bloke. His leap, marking, work rate and ball winning for one.

I think most of us had him pencilled onto the wing in our side for the forseeable future

Experienced players will help this squad .

I think two of those three (McCrae, Schoenberg) will do little to help the cause. I've heard the former described as too good for VFL, not good enough for AFL. That's not what we need.

yes because we didn't take Evans or Banfield and because GC decided to match a midfielder they don't need (how dare they those sons of biatches).

should calm a little. bet you everyone would rather have our haul than theirs from this draft.

It's more that in 12 months time we'll be in a similar position and looking to cut at the list hard before the Tassie draft.

We also haven't targeted the types of players we need to be competitive on field sooner. You can blame that on the balance of players available at the top end of this draft.

I think I'm being realistic not pessimistic.

Which guys though? I think we've drafted reasonably well the last couple of years. Certainly some questions around how we manage the list though.

yeah my main qualms are with list management. im fine with how we have recruited.
And look its fair argument that maybe we didnt rate CB or KE as draftable talents.
but man if they are decent, club deserves its whack cause from outside looking in how weve managed the numbers is pretty meh.

Yeah but young players take 2-3 years to come on in general ~50 games. We just pushed that back another year now. Lets hope we convince Warner over or something like that.

We just took the best player in the draft, who plays midfield, but because people have convinced themselves he's not one, they think picking mids in the third round in a weak draft will solve our issues.

The players we currently have need time to develop and we'll probably move on a bunch of blokes next year in a better draft for mids.

Blame the previous admin for the shithouse situation we're in but as Pyke said last draft, this is a 4 year plan, not a 12 month one. It may work out great, it may fail but we're years off knowing that.

At this stage, we have 2x #1 picks and a #2 pick who will make up the core of our midfield going forward.

People pissing their pants because we didn't draft a player they convinced themselves were some hidden gem, despite no other clubs going near them early on, is just nauseating.

then matched Koby Evans bid and then lost Tylah Wlliams

If this Allen kid turns out to be a gun and Banfield gets delisted .. sure. But we all could see that Banfield is an exciting talent, and it would hurt extra bad if he ends up playing and doing well for the Saints
