And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

No one is arguing that Banfield will be a future Brownlow medalist.

Draftees are like lottery tickets, you can't tell if you're going to win, or how much you're going to win. But you definitely know the cost.

Banfield was going to cost us almost nothing.

We would have a free hit at a best-22 player in a position of need who is the son of a dual premiership Eagle, for the grand old price of a single main list spot.

We ran out of 5c coins and couldn't afford to buy it, embarrassing when we want his brother to play for West Coast in 12 months' time.
Every player you draft is a 'free hit' at a best 22 player.

I like Banfield and wanted to draft him but again, if other players were rated higher on WCE's board, then I'll defer to them, considering they've watched these kids for 3+ years.

Seriously people, get a life.

We've picked up the best two talents in the draft, so let's celebrate that rather than melting to the ground over ... well everything.

"We need an internal investigation..." my God, do you know how you sound?

No according to our recruitment team. In any case winning spoons won't deliver us a competitive list.

You're happy they didn't rookie Cripps and kept Harry Barnett?

You're missing the point.

Clarke's position is quickly becoming untenable.

I don't think so. I like what they have done. another ND selection is a 2yr commitment. I think that matters. it compromises what you can do in future years.

don't know anything about Barnett but he is on list because coaches clearly saw something and wanted to stick with it. he is also a tall and Evans and Banfield are not. Cripps still performs and about only forward that knows what it takes from work rate.

don't mind it. can't delist and can't draft everyone.

Last point a ripper. Little incremental losses adding up. None individually worth the melt they all received, but slowly adding up.

Yeah absolutely and do agree the melting in absolute isolation over this draft night 2 would be ridiculous if we were otherwise doing alright.

Given how horrible we've been though i think lots of us want to see the John Worsfold/Beau Waters approach of refusing to lose a single contest (in a spiritual club sense) - could be something as dumb as melting over merch but when you're on the bottom you want to see tooth and nail style fighting for outcomes.

Acutely aware this is the equivalent of losing a non-critical contest inside 50 and that life goes on - but you can also bet Waters would refusing to believe life would go on if he ever did lose a contest.

You're a million percent right that this one contest shouldn't be worth a melt but when you're watching the club play like Petruccelle it's hard not to yell at the TV haha.

Hopefully (and almost likely) this draft won't sink the club or anything like that but it feels like the equivalent of Petch going 85% at a contest where Beau would go 850% and those things do add up to a successful club.

So have we officially signed up the likes of Schoenberg and mcrae etc or just verbally told them we are giving them a contract? Would have thought we can only sign them during this period/tomorrow? If so can we reneg on one and take like greeves if he slides to the rookie?

They will get signed on Monday in the ssp. Pretty sure we have 1 rookie selection available.

Haha cannot .....they never nominated for this draft because we're taking them as DFA

It would seem the bed wetters have been taken over by the bed shitters!
Could it be possible that T Williams and Sam Allen were rated by our team in the 20's, whereas Banfield and Evans as late to rookie picks and if they got through to the rookie draft great!
The club didn't want to many picks this year as they brought in some mature rookies.
Without knowing where we rated players it is all just conjecture as to why we did what.
The club may also be seeing next years NGA's as a lot stronger group.

But if you can create a list spot by moving some magnets you do it you rate him, which they do some what because they nominated them

And as I've explained before, he doesn't make that decision in a vacuum: I.E. he doesn't sit there in a darkened room and make that decision without consulting the rest of the football department.
McQualter says this is the game plan and I want these types of players

Massey and the recruiters go out and scout the kids, interviews and develop rankings.

Clarke and the list management team manages trades, contracts, list spots etc to get the list in shape for what McQualter wants.

Then it all comes together at trade and draft period.

The **** up is on Clarke, he is an absolute buffoon who needs to go.

It's not about Williams and Allen.

It's about Cripps and Barnett (and Clarke).

We probably couldn't realistically cover all 4 Academy players because you can't just leave 4 list spots open just in case. But we should have made sure we could cover at least two of the four. Hope one slips through to the Rookie draft. And accept losing one.
