And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

Yep and that was a development decision around keeping senior players around and not overloading the list with even more young kids.

If Banfield/Evans turn out to be A-graders, we'll obviously regret it but as it stands, that's incredibly unlikely.

Like I said you and others, including myself(as I've stated multiple times) had a preference to moving Cripps on to get an extra in the ND but that wasn't the plan to begin with, so it wasn't a 'mistake'.
When you are in rebuilding mode anybody over 30 who is a fringe best 20 selection should be retired, not extended. With the one exception being if they play a position where you don't have multiple young players coming through anytime in the next year or two who can play that position. So Cripps should be retired IMO. He doesn't add anything that is significantly above what the next best young small forward will be able to contribute over the next year or two.

Not looking to kick off a whole thing, but had we rookied Cripps, we wouldn’t be able to have taken FRod, correct?

Now the “did we need all three of Schoenberg, Macrae and Dev” or “why not pay Barnett out” question still persists, but there we go. Rodriguez in the door a good result. The Banfield (and Evans, I suppose) chat will persist, but very glad to have him especially as a free swing given his earlier draft stock.
Still feel like between Dev, Macrae, Schoenberg, Cripps and Barnett there’s at least one extra spot we could have.

Fred does ease the Banfield pain though, actually picked a mid.

The one year over two year contract is also in our favour as well if neither turn out to be good.

Are there any elite WA basketballers that have an Aussie Rules background (otherwise known as the Reverse Pendlebury)?

Must be some 206cm kid playing in the WA junior state teams that chose basketball over footy in their mid teens that we could dangle the Category B spot at when they realise they might not get to college/NBL level after they’ve finished school.

Speculative I know but isn’t that the point of the Cat B system?

I imagine if you wound the clock back 12 months and said we’d have duursma, CDT, Lindsay and Fred on our list in 12 months time you wouldn’t have believed it.

I don't follow the draft personally - I just read on here and don't pretend I know a thing about these kids. I will say that I remember the names thrown around and Lindsay and Rodriguez were up there constantly over the past 12 - 24 months and we got both. 🤷‍♂️

You're a broken record.

I wonder if Flyin' had stayed whether Cripps would have been moved on.
To be honest i am still worried that he is better than some of our small forward stocks.
time will tell

So a question for all the colts affeciendos - if you had just 1 spot for Evans or Banfield or Rodriguez - who would you take?

It's amazing how one pick swings the emotions. at this end of draft, it's like we fight for the free sandwiches like they’re the only barrier between us and death.

some of you have completely lost the plot over those that are more than likely going to be list cloggers.

Maybe we’ve psyched out interest in Fred by acting like it was our remaining NGAs we were more keen on. It’s a legitimate possibility Rodriguez’s early standing as a first round prospect and sliding despite being WAs best player meant we’d take him over those anyway. Either way it’s a lovely first rookie pick, and we just love lads with top character.

The last two draft hauls have delivered an unbelievable net result of young talent and leadership to drive us back to where we deserve to be again. Can’t be mad overall looking at the names we’ve added. Theres going to be fun and exciting types to uncover all over the place in the coming season

Happy to get Fred.Last year many were saying he was a top ten pick but it turned out to be the rookie draft and not the national draft.
For those miserable people who still are unhappy take the advice of Mick jagger.
You can't always get what you want.

Maybe we should ask Ben Simmons what he is doing?

Not an an aficionado, just a fan. I would have gone with Evans. He is the epitome of high risk high reward and if it comes together could be anything. Big IF though
