And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

The trading of STK F2 and the diabolical list spot situation that cost us Charlie Banfield remain big concerns for me in list management yet again. Evans and Walley I’m not too fussed about.

In saying that, if you’d told me post champs we’d walk away with Duursma, CDT, Lindsay, Rodriguez, Allen and TWilliams I would have been pretty bloody happy.

A real head scratcher for me is how we apparently we able to pass on more picks in the rookie draft. It implies we had more list spots.
The passes are Dev, Macrae and Harrys spots

Not totally clear to me why Rodriguez (or do we just call him Fred? I like Fred) slid so much after being pretty highly regarded coming into the season. He didn't do much in his league match but it was the first round and that's hardly out of the ordinary for a teenager getting his first crack at the level. His cols stats were generally better than 2024 and he hit the scoreboard more, and his stats for WA were similar to the previous year. I guess maybe it's like a poor man's Sharp - concerns about his pace and no real standout trait beyond being able to find the ball a lot.

I do think the additions of Dev, Schoenberg and Macrae will definitely benefit the development of someone like Fred, because he'll be able to rotate through the the mids and work on his versatility by playing in other areas of the ground rather than just being thrown to the wolves and getting consistently thrashed by the bigger and more experienced WAFL midfields.

Thats a ridiculous simplification. North have been bad at a whole lot of things for a long period of time. Drafting, coaching, development etc. To try and boil where they are now all down to retiring players over 30 a year or two earlier than they wanted to go over the last 5 - 8 years is absurd. As if they would be in the top 8 by now had they just hung on to all those old players who have retired in the last 5 - 8 years for an extra year.

North got rid of all their 30yos and just last year, had to bring in a cooked Darling and Parker to steady the ship.

Cripps kicked a goal a game in 2025. Hardly irreplaceable.

He was our leading goal kicker, Ryan was 2nd and he's now gone.

We'd be relying on the likes of Owies and Tyler Brockman to kick 20+ goals a year with him gone.

Do I think he'll play the entire year? Probably not. I hope he's usurped and relegated to WAFL but the onus is on a young player to be better than him, not be gifted games for free.

We would still be rolling out NicNat, Hurn and Shuey if it was up to you.

Now you're just being ridiculous.

I defended the Kelly trade
I defended the gimp wing
I defended the credits crew
I defended the pick 3 for blowies trade
I defended the Nick Martin miss
I defended the Yeo extension
I defended Ryan for peanuts
I defended Chesser for peanuts

But I can’t defend not picking up Banfield and Evans
You don't have to defend any of it. You can try and understand it though, even if it ends up being the wrong decision in the end.

If that was the case wouldn’t you put him on the list and pay him so he can just train and play footy? Unless they plan on filling that spot with someone else
I would've thought so. Maybe they wanted to give him some extra motivation, or maybe they can add him later in the preseason or MSD? I'm not sure about the latter 2 though.

Overall can't complain too much about that draft period. 3 x experienced mids to help with depth, some young mids / wingers, a small forward and some elite talent at the top end that could be A graders.

We moved some value into next year in the form of some F3rds from the Hawks and kept our own future picks.

Once we took Allen (winger) Banfield was always going to struggle just on list balance - but that's a bit disappointing given his great heritage.

Sydney must be excited to add a couple of fresh-faced rookies in Jake Lloyd and Dane Rampe.

Missed sessions etc. With the down year, injury suppose it caught up with him and the club has erred on the side of caution.
I think he is a real talent if he gets it right, free hit as well so if we are not taking him then it's clear where we stand with it.
Unfortunately, too many times officials had to ask 'Where's Walley?'

Looks like one list spot for SSP train on's. I am curious how they spotted Dev, Mcrae and Schoenberg from the other delisted and 2nd tier league players as sign on without trial. No criticism simply interested in what they see and roles. Any word on who has been invited as a train on potential yet? I wonder if Blamires or Murdock get a run or they look at a ruck.

If he we highly rated, he wouldn't have lasted until the rookie draft...

Having said that, I hope he comes out with a point to prove and kills it.
AFL academy number... Under 18 AA... WA MVP... Finds plenty of the ball.

Fits a position of need... Id say that's highly rated... Instead of our club's general draft/recruitment... Which you seem to always rate highly
