And a song to sing as we watch,

Hey Matty Clarke by Kevin (Random260) Wilson :

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp

If I wanted a stupid ruckman type, I would’ve bloody asked
And this half back flank and temu mid, you can shove right up your arse
You’ve stuffed the bloody order up, it’s enough to make you spew
But it’s not just me who’s snakey, SGIO is dirty too

Next time I come to see ya, I’m going to punch you in the guts
And I’ll sack the other recruiting knobs and kick Toddy in the nuts
You just wait 'til next year when you go back to the draft
And me and me little GIO come stomping through the door
And we'll say, yeah, you wait for it

Hey Pyke and Woosh you smell his breath
And check his bloodshot eyes
And don't listen to him eagles fans 'cause he tells ****ing lies
He's just a ****ing useless campaigner and he's not even very bright
'Cause the stupid ****in' w***er, forgot me ****in' Sharp

Hey Matty Clarke you campaigner, where the **** is Sharp
I’ve looked at all these other spuds and there’s no one that I like
I wrote you a ****ing letter and posted about it twice
You dopey ****ing Richmond fart, you forgot my ****ing Sharp
A Quick Ai rendition: https://suno.com/s/blQP3cSnulhqYb5g
It's funny how it interrupted the lyrics XD

Swallow is completely cooked. As a development coach he might be a good pickup but a complete waste of a playing list spot

Mitchell i wasn't totally against tbh. But the 3 we've gone with are right in the age range we lack and all seem keen to put in the work to try and extend their careers. Having some hungry players on their last chances who have all shown the ability to play at the level is exactly what we should be using those extra spots for imo

Dont get the angst over these 3 tbh. If they completely suck theyre all easy delists next year
None of these guys will play in the firsts... It's purely WAFL depth.. which any one of them regardless of age would excel.
Its all about elite training standards and achievements.

It wasnt the hard decision though. Banfield was available at a bargain price.... the hard decision not taken was putting Cripps to the rookie list

Everyone can admit this bar a few
Perhaps the hard decision was to retain hard working experience to balance the quality kids coming in, and ensure they have the right enviornment to develop within. The devoplment boss's interview is enlightening.

Dev Robertson was good enough to play in a Grand Final 2 years ago but not good enough to play in the worst midfield ever seen at AFL level

Interesting take

Absolutely agree with everything... Great post!
Duursma was rated no1 by most of the media, potential to be a difference maker.
CDT rated the next best open pool player with possibly the most upside.
Williams was rated the highest of our NGA group and a possible top 20 bid was possible.
The club also clearly stated we would only have 5 selections, they considered Allen to be clearly above Banfield and Evans. We hoped one or both made it to the rookie, didn't work out that way.
I think we drafted a very dynamic group of young talent and hope for the best!

I dont remember a young Jacob Brennan taking a colts grand final apart .
It is all about risk taking. I can be wrong too.
The fact that no other clubs ,except St Kilda is willing to bid with a very late pick has told the story. (Suggest you to browse to the replay of Cal Towmey night 2 draft comments to find out why St Kilda did that).
Wait a couple of year, we will know the answer.
Edit: Are we saying Fred Rodriguez is not a better selection?

I think you try and fix the problem as opposed to run away from it. Its almost like they are so scared to fail they forget to chase successs
I think WCE approach sends a strong message to the other NGA prospects before any figjam traits begin to emerge and as we know with young lads its quite easy to just ditch work and hang with friends ..

Bakes and graham said on coming here that the standards were lacking.

A bottom up rebuild of non negotiables.
I mean Harley Reid thinking it was ok to rock up looking like he’d had a bike pump up his arse was a clear symptom of what we had fallen to.

Circus run by the monkeys…

Simmo had cashed out in 2021 , the tail was swinging the dog ..

correct. He wasn't exactly Brisbane's prime midfielder, was he? that analysis, like many on here, lacks depth.

anyway, when are we going to address the elephant in room. Starc giving up no.4 to Duursma. It was clear in meeting with Mini thats what is holding his excitement back a little.

Mini addressed it well and clearly that he has to wait but come on Starc. Not like that was your number in brisbane.

All three will play in the top 23 at some point in 2026 IMO.

Fitness allowing obviously.

There's a boof-head journalist on ESPN who graded our draft performance as a C- after extolling the virtues of the players we picked......go figure! So, almost every other team outperformed WC despite us selecting Duursma, Duff-Tytler, Lindsay followed by Allen and Williams in the second round. Had any other team secured these players that would have been viewed as an A grade performance, but NO, we're WC, so stick the boots in........... you w***er.

The plan should have been adjusted and provision made. It’s a massive fail.
I reckon a massive fail would be adjusting your long term plan (that you've spent months putting together with a whole group of people paid to do exactly that) so that you don't put a bunch of people on the Internet's preconceptions out of whack?

Every club makes misjudgements in every draft, but if you go in without a plan you'll stick to, there's no way you can succeed. Sounds like the plan never had taking our aligned players other than Williams in the main draft.

I thought we drafted Alec waterman? Delisted him after glandular fever?
That's right. Couldn't get on the park after 2 years of battling Glandular Fever? We didn't re-contract him as he wasn't sure he would still be playing?

Came good a year or two later and Essendon drafted, and then delisted, him.

In also a bit confused that the club talked about the contest all year and has drafted players with predominantly uncontested bias to their game. It's an area we really neglected the whole way through.

Yep, and it leaves me feeling that, even at this point, we still don't have a good grasp on what to prioritise in talent ID for the modern game. The messaging has been about 'ball movement and speed on transition', which is all good and well but the actual selections have still basically neglected ground ball work and spread, both in and around a stoppage and forward at the ball drop.

In a sense we were hamstrung with regards to who it would have been justifiable taking with 1 and 2, but I remain unconvinced by Duursma on a player-type basis, even moreso by CDT in general.

Yeah but they should've adjusted it to please nobodies on social media
