Ramsey looked good in the preseason last year and then did sweet FA in the whole SANFL season
Might be an inch or two too short for a player with his skill set. If he makes it, it will be as a defender I reckon. But I wouldn't be surprised if he's not with us beyond this season.

Thanks - happy with Rats progress this PS. Clearly still not exactly where he needs to be but all reports suggest there is a vast improvement that should hold him in good stead this year. He's probably still another PS away from the real gut running, repeat sprint type fitness we need. But it's good enough for now.

Any observations on Wigg?
Yeah all positive signs for Atkins. Might not necessarily be best 22 yet (or ever), but he is tracking the right direction.

Glad he has improved his endurance which hopefully allows him to play at a higher intensity. We know he has great skills and lateral movement. I just want to see him play harder. Play the ball and man harder. I saw a glimpses of Hendo at times which concerned me.

And you would have got it .....if i had been able to get a caffeine fix (Melbourne Coffee)

Melbourne has been voted as having the world’s best coffee

MELBOURNE has beaten Rome, Vienna and Sydney in being judged to have the best coffee in the world.

Travel website booking.com surveyed more than 1000 of its users from around the world and found Melbourne was well and truly on top when it comes to coffee.

Barista at Brother Baba Budan Jos Turner said Melbourne baristas take pride in their coffee and it is appreciated by diners and tourists.

“The tourists love Melbourne because our coffee and cafe culture is a part of our lives and is a very unique thing to Melbourne,” Mr Turner said

Just beat me to it. Grigg one of our best endurance athletes - hard to see Menzel getting to that level but has the skills to compensate provided he reaches an adequate level of fitness
It's looking more and more likely that for Menzel to play in 2016, he might have yo play predominantly as a deep forward.

Charlie then plays the high half forward role. His explosiveness, repeat efforts and run & carry could suit the role.

Knight pushes up to the wing to replace Sloane as that gut busting running. While Sloane plays onball.

Obviously players will rotate thru various positions but that might be the main set up.

In time I still hope Menzel can build his tank and move up the field. Worst case scenario he is a dangerous forward for his whole career. Not a big deal. So is his brother.

That sums it up well. Knight would be a great wingman, runs all day and is quick.

Is ROB that bad? I haven't seen any sanfl so don't know. People sometimes allow a couple of howlers to define a player. They're still doing it with Hartigan despite a near flawless back half of the year. Certainly no absolute disasters.
Hartigans kicking technique is v sound , ROB is not

CEY looks like he's gonna give Thommo a run for his money. Looking huge. Reckon he's the sort of big bodied mid they'll want in the guts to replace Danger.
I had coffee with CEY the other day. (I know right. you all be jelly?...well it wasn't actually a pre-arranged thing, he just happened to be sitting there with a coupla other Crowboys) He is the three T's.

Trim, Taut, and Terrific.

If Menzel gets through two nab challenge matches and can run them out, he should be in as deep forward as you say Charlie moves up to flank, knight to wing, Sloane on ball

That's fair enough and I agree that Menzels best value to our side will be deep in our forward zone. But I also think there needs to be caveat regrading his fitness. It needs to at least be at a level where he can get up and down the ground and play team defence.

The days of playing forward pocket and standing by the point post (like I used to do) are well and truly gone.

Peter I'd suggest he'll be AFL fit "enough" .......but can you play Charlie, Betts, Menzel all in the same forward line ? .....wouldn't that mean resting midfielders on the bench, and given bench rotation restrictions ?

And where do we play Milera .....who IMO is AFL ready and probably has his nose in front of Menzel ATS .......some real dilemma's

I'm not sure that's a problem - lots of different looks there which is an excellent position to be in.

But, having seen them train, let me ask the same question I asked in another thread - In the last quarter of the Elimination Final, a hard running final, Charlie was helping in defence then sprinted forward to provide an option for Tex. He gathered himself and kicked the goal. A minute later he makes a critical, strong, tackle on our full back line. Does Menzel have that level of fitness? If so great bonus for us as he is so talented. If not will the coached take a risk? Not sure

Some great dilemmas to have!
Charlie, Betts and Lynch can have spells on the ball and we can rotate mids through the forward line. Same for half back line.

See this is the problem I am having with most people's predictions for our future team, there are reduced rotations. Even without the reduced rotations most players last season were playing more than one position during a game. Now with the reduced rotations we shouldn't be looking at players in the one spot, they have to be able to cover in multiple areas, so Charlie up forward, and on the wing. Same with Knight. Smith, Hampton and Seedsman all have the ability to play through the middle and back. Hampton has the ability to also play forward we know. Laird can play through the middle. Douglas is handy up forward and down back. This is why I think it is almost impossible to try and pick a 'best' team. Until we start seeing games with the reduction in rotation, we won't really be able to judge correctly what is going to happen and who then has the versatility to play.

Agree with what you are saying but the core of the team we can pick. The role of guys like Tex, Jenkins, Lynch, Jacobs, Talia etc won't change. The unknowns are who are going to play half back flanks and wings.

It really is six spots that will be interesting, the four flanks and two wings. These six spots add to the three on baller (plus ruck) meaning you have up to 10 midfielders on the ground at any one time.

I wonder if more rotations means the HFFs will spend more time at home.

Maybe not ATS ......by Seasons end with injury free season .....possible

That's why i have Milera in front of Menzel, even now early in Milera's career
