Copious amounts of weed.. Seems I spent most of the 90s bouncing from dealers in the daytime and bouncing from bouncers in the night time... As the decade wore on things became more sinister and I won 10K at Crown and got the fu** out of dodge... Right into Surfers Paradise... 2000.

90s we're great, I started at 16 and ended at 33, then went back to 22 in 2000. LSD also was a regular feature in the early-mid90s, while Ecstacy was a feature in the mid-late 90s. Sex was on tap. Drugs were on tic.
Weed was sooooooooo much better in the 90s as well.
I piss myself laughing when I hear the media talking this laughable crap about it being 20x stronger now than two decades ago.

Siblings: Both brothers born in early 90s

School: Primary School 1994-2000. I was top of the class every year through the 90s (1994-99). I was also very well behaved, usually one of the most well-behaved kids or the first to get to "Level 1" (we had a six level behaviour system where everyone started the year at Level 3 and the suspended/expelled kids usually got into Level 5-6).

TV: We didn't own a TV until 1993, but I learnt to read pre-memory so was already a bookworm come the early 90s. I read virtually the entire series of Mr. Men & Goosebumps and prized my collections like a lot of 90s kids. I also remember being obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. I didn't really follow the news until early '96 (Port Arthur + '96 Howard/Keating election lead-up), but do recall the Oklahoma bombing. As a geography nerd even before school, I also took interest in SBS and random countries popping up on news bulletins (e.g. Rwanda, Bosnia, Israel, Afghanistan, etc. in that period). My first adult show was probably Earth 2, that scene where Gaal got pulled into the ground by Terrians was nightmarish at the time (without understanding the situation). I became obsessed with the Rage Top 50 in mid-'97 and from then on woke up before dawn every Saturday to watch the full top 50. Given my late TV take-up, I only caught the tail-end of TMNT fandom but remember when Power Rangers, Rugrats and Captain Planet all hit, and then Pokemon in about 1998.

Parents: My father was a Church pastor until 1996 and so I had a very biblical early childhood, reading the bible and going to church services/events a great deal. Mother was a social worker. My last surviving great grandparent died in the early months of 1990.

AFL: Was fully aware of the AFL by '93, and '95 was the first season I followed, '97 the first I recall week-to-week. Became an Eagles fan in 1995 and they made finals every year. Most memorable moments (with Bloods parents) was Lockett's behind in '96 in the PF, then his record-breaking goal in '99. Peter Matera was my first favourite player, and Jeff Farmer was becoming my favourite at the end of the decade

Film: Bambi re-release and Aladdin were the first films I saw in cinemas. Remember seeing Twister on a school night with Dad when I was 7 (which made me feel all grown up). Titanic in early '98 was the most memorable cinema viewing. In 1999 I started to have favourite films, first The Mummy on release and then Aliens. I first watched the Alien films in the '99 winter and they became my enduring childhood franchise. Fern Gully & The Chipmunk Adventure were probably my most watched films in the 90s. I think the very first films I saw were Return to Oz & Rescuers Down Under.

Sports: As a kid my sports were cross-country, nippers (therefore swimming squad and board training), and I got a roadbike for my 11th bday at the end of 1999. Ran the City2Surf when I was 9yo in 1998, then 1999. Also did soccer in '96-'97 and was tennis mad.

Holidays: Fiji '99. Had grandparents on the Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast so went up there a couple times. Other grandparents in western Victoria. Remember being in Merimbula region in Easter '95 when a twister swept through the area and caused a fair deal of damage

Health: I almost died in mid-'90 when my next brother was being born. Lump in the throat, iron deficiency, something along those lines. Was bad enough that the hospital staff accepted I was likely going to die. I have no memory of this (too young)

Tech: first TV was a TEAC 40cm-ish in '93 with built-in VHS. First PC was around October 1998 (but remember using computers in school as early as 1995), and then when the computer lab got an iMac make-over in '99 so the computer pace rapidly seemed to develop. First game-boy for xmas 99. No consoles in 90s but played SNES at my best friend's fairly regularly.

Nowadays faves:

Silence of the Lambs

Pulp Fiction

Dumb and Dumber

Tommy Boy

Black Sheep

calling up radio stations to vote for songs. it couldve been 80s actually.

Triple J used to have a vote for the best songs from two new bands.

They did one where it was Green Day Longview vs some other band I can't remember.

Needless to say Green Day won by a landslide.

The ultimate 90s slacker anthem.

Some of my favourite albums came out of the 90s.

Radiohead - Ok Computer

Tool - Aenima

You Am I - Hi-Fi Way

You Am I held their own against the best bands of the 90s.

Have you ever seem Hercules Returns with Bruce Spence and Mary Coustas. That was a great 90s film.

The Big Steal was a classic Australian film from the early 90s.

A young Ben Mendelsohn, Claudia Karvan and Steve Bisley.

Went to a Mad Max Q and A with Steve Bisley and he complained about always being typecast as a cop but he always wears the cop shades,

He wore them at the Q and A and he wears them in that film as well.

Went through the NIDA school at the same time as Mel Gibson and Judy Davis.

Interesting character.

My brother sent me a copy of Hourly Daily. It's one of my favourite albums, the title track still reminds of the morning Diana died.
I can imagine you as being a big fan of Princess Di.

Show how famous she was when most people can remember where they were when they heard the news.

Love love love that movie. Awesome soundtrack as well Dancing in the Storm ftw.

Iirc was the first ever video my family rented when we got a video player.

The 90s also produced the best video game I've ever played.

Boomshakalaka

He's heating up

Head fake

That game was for the simpletons.

Any real basketball person was busy playing NBA Live 95.

edit - I'll never forget one of my mates hitting a half court 3 pointer with Shaq - fading away. Odds of that going in must have been like 1000 to 1.

Saw Boom Crash Opera at the Herdies Hotel (another defunct Perth live venue) in the early 90s.

One of the best gigs of my life.
