I never watched SNL in the 90s, in fact I don't remember it being on TV here.

I've seen it since (it's 2019, there are a gazillion channels and platforms) and it's powerfully unfunny.
It was on in either the 80s or 90s ???

I don't think SNL was ever shown on any of the regular commercial channels here, it was shown on pay tv here though.

You can watch most of the old skits on youtube now and while there are a lot of funny skits there are plenty of unfunny ones too but that's to be expected when they are trying to produce an hour or more of live television every week, not every skit is going to be a comic masterpiece.

It may have been, I remember watching it back in the 90s when guys like Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Norm Macdonald were on it.

I know In Living Color was shown late at night here back in the 90s, that was like the Fox version of SNL with Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans.

Letterman's talk show was always shown late at night here too, like Colbert is shown here now as Ch10 and Ch9 before them were affiliated with CBS.

I can't really reconcile SNL with producing good comedians. I definitely associate it with Will Ferrell though.

I believe Eddie Murphy got his start on SNL (Buckwheat)....Others include Chris Rock, John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd (Blues Brothers) Tina Fey (30 Rock), Mike Myers (Austin Powers), Bill Murray, David Spade (Just Shoot Me), Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Adam Sandler....There's plenty of names to chose from.

He was the big star on SNL in the 2nd half of the 90s and early 2000s before he went on to star in movies. There would only be a handful of comedians from SNL who have gone on to have that sort of success in movies though, there was Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd from the 70s cast, Eddie Murphy back in the 80s and then Adam Sandler, Chris Farley and Mike Myers from the 90s. Most SNL cast members go on to other tv shows and having minor roles in movies or they just disappear altogether.

Sundried tomatoes were in 50% of cafe meals in the 90s. Glad that trend died.

Sundried tomatoes are one of those things that someone discovered on the continent and has got wrong since.

Nothing against them, they have their place alongside olives and cheese and cured meats etc. but they are a strong flavour.

The way they were used here was like someone in France discovering Vegemite then spreading half a jar of it onto every baguette ever.
