Who the hell is Sally Struthers ?

South Park made fun of her. 90s South Park, no less.

I've said it before but Triple J was better back in the 90s both in terms of the hosts and the music.

They used to run a phone poll back then where people would vote on the best songs from two new bands.

It was usually quite even but then they ran a poll back where it was a song from some new band I can't remember and this song.

Needless to say Longview won in a landslide, one of those songs that you just knew would be a monster hit the first time you heard it.

The ultimate 90s slacker anthem.

Speaking of comedy. Rude was courageous and brilliantly vulgar.

Rodney Rude was more of an 80s comedian, even by 90s standards he was considered too vulgar and politically incorrect.

These days he wouldn't be allowed to complete a sentence without being locked up by the PC brigade.

Rude paved the way. I would hope he could complete his set these days. If he did a gig .

Rodney Rude is Sam Newman level hack. Joke is always imagine-not-being-a-while-male. Haha? Even people who like that are jack of it after literal decades.

Back in the 90s people knew the definition of political correctness. Now it's a catch all term for anything right wing/dim people don't like.

Rodney would probably still get away with doing gigs in the old style bogan pubs, along with Kevin Bloody Wilson I never found him that funny though.

There are better Aussie stand ups going around than them, like Jimeoin, although he's not really Australian.

His tv show back in the 90s with Bob Franklin and Glenn Robbins was pretty funny.

Rodney Rude. Was he like famous for about 5 minutes? Not heard him for well over two decades I would have thought. If when I did it was like for 5 minutes on Hey Hey It's Saturday. Was like a theme comedian that did some album like Billy Birmingham did 12th Man but Birmingham did his comic albums more than just once or twice and had some genuinely funny lines in them. Rodney Rude was gone in no time. If he did any comic circuits he would have run out of material very soon. I reckon he may have been around late 80's and not even got into 90's.

Still means nothing to me. Watched South Park but did not remember her in anything.

I like a lot of your nostalgic revisits Plugger but cannot stand or fathom Jimoein.
His humour to me was always a feeble variation of " You know how aussies say this word blah instead of blah.
A pissweak comedian. His observational humour was always so trite and boring and painstakingly mundane.
Bobby Franklin tho had the goods imo.
Bit off the beaten track and delightfully abstract with his jests.
I faintly remember him intereviewing Ryan Griggs the pom socccer star who was here for one of those circus matches of Man U vs a local outfit in oz.
It was under the lights at Olympic park in Melbourne. Griggsy was sporting quite the beard.
Bobby just deadpanly asks him. " so ryan. Lycanthropy. The ability for a man to turn into a wolf after dark. Your thoughts?"
Griggs' face was like "wtf' clearly having no idea of the joke intended.

I wouldn't say Jimeoin is mundane, he comes up with some left field stuff that most other stand ups wouldn't even think of.

He does a whole routine on eyebrows which is pretty funny, this is only part of it.

He's like the Irish Paul Hogan, he came out to Australia on a working holiday and was the funny guy on the worksite, like Hoges was when he painted the Sydney Harbour Bridge, so his workmates told him that he should go into comedy and the rest is history.

He's a genuinely funny guy but his Irish accent helps, any stand up comedian is at least 20% funnier with an Irish accent.

Paul Hogan is crap. No wonder over 50s are an angry bunch when he's the shit they grew up with.

If Kevin Bloody Wilson can still do shows, then there should be a spot for Rodney Rude (health permitting), regardless of the PC element.
