Watched Aquaman at home last night and thought "This would've been good at the cinema" but after making my way to cinema, sitting through 25 minutes of s**t before it starts, campaigners in front of me dicking around on their phones and campaigners anywhere talking when explosions aren't happening, I probably would've left the cinema annoyed.

Hah, this Jason Momoa campaigner. What a pathetic loser. He's 6'5 and 130 kilos but here he is dressed up like a mer-man.

Guys like Michael Cain were thin and wiry and total dandies, but worked a normal job, came from dirt-poor families, and ended up leaving a true legacy from great, nuanced acting in top level films. This campaigner mutters to the camera and pretends a wave or some dragons are coming for him and we're told he's the true ideal of a man? What a joke.

Even if you want to go down the route of athletic looking blokes, the 70s and 80s nailed it with guys like Marlon Brando – wiry and handsome – but Brad Pitt in Fight Club is about as big as you'd ever want to be. Still looks sick in a jacket and jeans and doesn't look like a little 190cm keg. Bloke's not even 6'0.

These days we have wee-wees like Chris 'The ****' Johnson, a bloke too weak to come out in Hugh Jackoff as some kind of ideal for manliness. w***ers.

Heather Graham was pretty nice. I always thought she was British; just looked like some girl from old money in Essex. But she's from Wisconsin. Good on her. The best state.

Rented this on video when it was new and seen it a bunch of times over the years (on TV, didn't rent it again). 2009 was the last time I watched it.




Only saw the sequel once.




Channel 10 showed the original show nightly in this decade. Couldn't believe it in 2005 when I met British backpackers who'd never heard of it.
