1984 actually....Saw the movie Purple Rain that year....It was posted for it's title relevance only.

Oh yeah...the Y2k bug...I'm sure there's preppers in America who've been awaiting the immanent end now, for far longer than that.

The Western religious & psychic tradition is dominated by apocalyptic visions....Though September 11 2001, wasn't too far away.

Just saw this pop up on youtube to highlight the song was created 17 years before change of the century.

being born in 91, my memories start from about 95/96 onwards.

This line here is me to a tee.

I have scattered memories of 1993 and 1994 but 1995 was my starting point too. (1995 was also the first year I remember seeing in publications.)

The world before the internet too, and computer labs at school only having a few computers with the internet.

Going to the library to research. Using Encyclopedia Britannica as well for obtaining information.

People actually using landline phones, too.

I remember Encyclopedia Britannica as well as Encarta.

Encarta, AltaVista, Netscape. (The big 3 'net resources of the time for me.)

This was before Google bombed the joint.

We had a phone like that too but then we got a cordless push button phone in the 90s which we thought was pretty fancy, being able to make and take phone calls in different rooms of the house rather than in the one place was a real game changer.

I also got my first mobile phone in the late 90s but the reception for it was so poor I hardly ever used it and still mostly used the landline.

Yeah.
Being able to walk around instead of twirling the cord was the big novelty.
You were able to multitask quite differently.

You suddenly went from sifting through papers to adequately cutting branches from bushes and plants in the garden.

Does anyone remember when 9 News segmented the sports part of the broadcast?

When Peter Hitchener*, for instance, threw to Tony Jones*, Chompers went straight into the AFL games played both days of the weekend and then went to the ad break in readiness for the rest of sport?

*May not've been both on the weekend.
*Don't remember who did it on the weekend.

Have found myself in a Trance/Eurodance ditch the past week and a bit.

Songs I've not heard before yet feel like a big part of my childhood.

Another great dance hit from the 90's featuring the voice of Heather Little of M People....British of course.

Her surname is Small.

Fun fact: Her song Proud was the theme song to The Biggest Loser USA.

Noughties fact but still.
