I'm assuming women your age are roughly their target market and correct me if I'm wrong. Would you fork out to see them? I remember them as having a couple of catchy songs but I don't remember them as anything special.Nice puff piece on the backstreet boys on sixty mins atm

I was listening to David Grey and the Thrills then. They were pretty big.
Like 5SOS and One Direction of the late 90s/early 2000s.

My fave bb was probably Five. Followed by nsync, then BSB. And of course NKOTB
Being a metalhead I grew up mocking the New Kids for their hilairious stuff like Hangin' Tough. I know Marky Mark Wahlberg went on to acting (and setting up a burger chain with Donnie - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahlburgers) but what became of the other new kids? Did they just go back to private life anonymity?
Fairly certain NKOTB still tour sicko
Wow. Pretty impressive actually. From what little I know most boy bands don't seem to have a long shelf life.
In October 2018, New Kids announced plans to tour alongside 90s stars like Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty by Nature, Debbie Gibson and Tiffany for their MixTape Tour. The trek is expected to kick off May 2, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio. It will run through July, concluding on the 14th in Hollywood, Florida.
Lots of 80s/90s acts do this though- think Rick Astley, Bananarama, etc... guess there's a big market out there for nostalgia acts. Like i said before tho,am not that keen to go see them.
Does anyone remember when 9 News segmented the sports part of the broadcast?
When Peter Hitchener*, for instance, threw to Tony Jones*, Chompers went straight into the AFL games played both days of the weekend and then went to the ad break in readiness for the rest of sport?
*May not've been both on the weekend.
*Don't remember who did it on the weekend.
More so when it was just news/sport/weather and no fluff stories etc
I don't think it's ever been much different, just being an adult instead of a kid you just think about and notice it more how awful they are compared to the ABC.Maybe my youth distorting it but I remember Seven, Nine and Ten News in the 90s and into the the 00s being loosely the same stuff as ABC but presented more dramatically.
Now ABC could open with Indonesia and commercial TV would do six freeway crashes and aggravated assaults on retirees before considering an Indonesia story.
I also remember Channel 7 news being better quality than what it is now. But that's news in general. The West is full of trash stories and syndicated opinion pieces. Only ever 'read' it getting a takeaway coffee and I am done cover to cover before the barista is finished.
RE: Backstreet Boys not my cup of tea but I just Googled them and the youngest member is 39 and the oldest 48 with the rest somewhere inbetween. Now I saw AC/DC when they were in the 50s and 60s, Cold Chisel when they were in their 40s and 50s but rock bands have a bit more longevity. To me it would be weird going to see a boy band made up of dudes pushing 50. I love Offspring but can't bring myself to see them now if they ever tour here. Dexter Holland shouldn't be mid 50s, that's wrong.
