You forgot I will boo him knowing that it will be interpreted as having racial undertones.

You might gladly accept it as the price but you should at least acknowledge the perception.

If someone booed Goodes cos they don't like him and others boo him for being a black fella ....no way of knowing the difference so I'd lump you all in (Yes I'm a flogist).

If you don't like the AFL imposing their authoritarian views ...why not boo them?
He just gave you a reason why he boo'd Goodes.

Apparently thats not good enough for you, you would prefer to call him a racist.

Now you can think what you want about those people who boo, just keep ignoring all the
reasons supported in the poll above, you know, that would be evidence.

Are you a bigot?

Except he didn't bully a 13 year old girl. He pointed out someone who shouted racial abuse at him, during a game of football in indigenous round. No one should have to put up with that.

When it was revealed she was a 13 year old girl, Goodes himself said it wasn't her fault: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...to-blame-for-racial-taunt-20130525-2n3bx.html
showing that it does not affect you is how you make it stop.

he should take a page out of dani alves book.

Geez, Dermie, Acker, Bolt, Panahi, Devine and Jones on one side.

That lineup does more to make me think the other side has merit than any argument here.
Thats fine, whilst you qoute a fairfax publication that trades at circa 90 cents a share
because not many people buy their product.

Newscorp trades at circa $19.

I wonder which company most Australians support with their money?

Hint - not Fairfax :)

Actually, I haven't quoted the Age or any other Fairfax product because I find it almost as insufferable as the Hun.

You'd also find that most of my comments here have been querying the arguments that the crowd reaction is primarily racially motivated.

Unfortunately, in true Bolt fashion, you leapt to a conclusion without the appropriate research.

Incidentally, weight of numbers doesn't equal merit of argument given the prevalance of ignorance and simple stupidity.

Forward Press... ahh this all over again. Same old racist shit, same old nonsense excuses, same old hate.
Haters always hate; Wbby nailed it on his first post that people are going to hate without knowing why they're hating. Mob mentality definitely comes into it, because he wasn't being booed much until this season. Dog acts on the field? Why don't people boo Hodge, Mitchell, Selwood, Rioli, Johnson, Harvey etc.

But a very well known public figure is always an easy target; future AFL legend, will probably be the best and most decorated indigenous player of all time, Australian of the year, community leader and champion for indigenous rights. But hey, if he was white would he get booed as much and publicly derided? I don't recall any white person being called an ape.

Seriously, it's always some feral posters from Collingwood, Adelaide and Hawthorn who're most adamant and most actively bashing without having even the faintest idea what the **** they're talking about. If you don't know anything about what you're talking about, don't bother engaging because your opinion is wrong.

People complaining about political correctness can **** back off to 50s where I know people who were raised in those years hold a very strong racist opinion on the matter, the sort of people who supported the 'White Australia' argument that Pauline Hanson desperately tried to bring back. I've listened to individuals in their 60s mindlessly babble and ramble on senselessly about reinvigorating White Australia, closing down our borders and refusing entry to anyone who isn't white. Of course they ignore the indigenous population and hope that they just piss off to their camps, drink petrol and beer and leach off the government, just sit down in the corner, take your handout and shut the **** up.

I'm white and I'm proud of the cultural diversity that we have in Australia, especially in Sydney and Melbourne. Having traveled a little it really gives perspective on why Melbourne and Sydney are so often rated as the most liveable cities. I find it upsetting and deeply offensive as a 30 year old to hear and read what people truly believe when they think they're just an anonymous member of society, another face in the crowd. I go to football games in Melbourne and no matter where you sit whenever it's a Swans game you hear someone spewing racist nonsense. Black campaigner, ape, etc. is just the stock standard. It isn't just the old racists who say this, it's people of all ages; kids, teens, 20s, 30s, parents and families, senior citizens, baby boomers etc.

We have serious societal issues if people are countering racism with freedom of speech.

People are different mate, not everyone can shrug their shoulders and take perceived racism in their stride.
well that specific personality trait is what contributes to his 'unlikability'.

like that person at the party that just can't leave politics and activism at the door. no one wants to get stuck talking to them.

Ah Donners, you were responding to someone who quoted
the age, please accept my apology.

I think he's an awful person for hating Adam Goodes simply for standing up against racism. Not for being proud of his country. Get it?
He never said he hated goodes for standing up to racism this is what he actually said.

",but I am one non -indigenous Australian who is proud of my country and i'm sick of the likes of Adam Goodes telling me I don't have a right to be and should be ashamed of my past as he did in his AOTY speech . My dad fought the Japanese in New Guinea in WW2 his dad in France in WW1 why should I be ashamed of where I came from"

Get your facts right before you call an obviously proud person racist.

Actually, A LOT of players, mainly ruckmen, over the years were called ape and/or gorilla (IE: "Get off him you big ugly gorilla").

I remember that phrasing being aimed at Justin Madden a fair bit, mainly because of the hunching style he used in ruck contests.

Interesting quote from a commentor elsewhere

"Robert I have spent the last 40 plus years in the Kimberley, married an aboriginal man and have 28 aboriginal descendants. I also have never heard the word ape used in that context. I did wonder if perhaps it was my age, that it was a recent occurrence, so I asked my adult grandchildren. But no, they had never heard it either, but two of the girls said that he looked like an ape. So, that's coming from aboriginal girls, so I'm not surprised a young white girl saw him as that. It was simply a description of his appearance."
I originally took it on face value all the slander against the word was legitimate at the time. Can someone prove, other than from Adam Goodes own words, his own life experience that "ape" is a historical derogatory reference to aboriginals?

I think it's fairly poor form to say that it's "unlikeable" to not take racism in your stride.

Only when domesticable animals were introduced
Some cultures spent thousands of years domesticating, breeding and perfecting the ability to farm. Others didn't.
As I said however. That choice is still available to him. If he wants to go back to hunter gathering, then give up all he has and do so.
