Now in saying this, I suggest also that those booing Goodes do the same thing. Maybe booing was a good way to have a jibe at a footy player, but knowing how deeply this is affecting the man, a champion of our game, surely you can cut a bit of slack. I mean stuff the idiots who are bullying you with propaganda that you're a racist and trying to manipulate your actions predetermining your motivations on your behalf; but yeah, look within yourselves and ask, knowing how messed up this situation is getting, is it really worth it? Why are you doing it? Are these the results you're really after? ?
If it really puts Gilligan and various sections of the media nose's out of joint, then it's all systems go for boo-gate.

Please include Gerrard Neesham in your list of people you have huge respect for. Done more for indigenous people than Adam Racist Goodes could ever dream of doing.

I do like the mention of one M O'Loughlin, Sydney supporters love to forget he paid hush money for that!
Totally agree but my list was only Indigenous Aussies

I have huge time for the Clontarf academy. A couple of good mates of mine work for it. Also did you know that the Academy has now spread across all of Australia and turns of 35 Million a year... geez

There's no question the booing has just become systematic bullying, with a huge percentage just getting their anonymous trolling jollies, pleased at the effect it is having on the media, and getting some misplaced sense of 'empowerment' from it, and well as some sense of self-validity and belonging with their fellow boo boys

It is possible that they have no knowledge, and most likely no interest in the effect it is having on Goodes personally.

It's not far removed from the internet bullying one sees on the internet...everyone against one person, what fun...

Now I'm being told that I must respect the champion that is Goodes.

Firstly I don't think he is a champion footballer and I don't like being told that I should respect any opposition footballer. I can recognise their talents but I don't respect them because they are the opposition. Far too much back slapping in the AFL world.

Even the 'lets all form a guard of honour for players on their milestones' that the opposition join in, it's wrong. Their club and players are nothing to my club and players

Before anyone jumps on their high horse this is in regards to their abilities and feats as footballers - nothing else

Respect as a person and human - of course, always
Respect as an opposition footballer - none
Kind of strange view. League would be a bit slow if there was only one team in it. Surely, it is worth respecting those that make the game great, regardlss of team. Do you not watch GAJ and just think wow?

ummm....perhaps because Milnes abuse was not racially motivated?
Yesterday commentators were saying that even though it may not be proven to be racist it is considered extreme bullying and should stop. My point is where wee these commentators defending someone like Milne who spent his whole career under more extreme bullying?

Everyone wonders why soccer is making ground on AFL in this country. Maybe it's because fans aren't allowed to do anything these days at AFL matches......if it was monkey chanting or racial, sexual or religious chanting I could cop it. But it's not, it's booing for **** sake.

OKAYYYYY I HAVE THE ANSWER.!.!.!

FOr all those who believe the booing directed towards ADAm GooDDEES is racial directed I have a few Questions for you pelicans!

1. The biggest racial debate in Australia today involves the thoughts on Muslims. Now I'm not going to go into this but as an Ausyralian, and as you guys are fellow Aussies I think we can agree their are a minority in this country who show some form of racial abuse or direct racial comments towards Muslims. Other than that racial debate that is by far the biggest racial problem the country faces (MINORITY!!! But still probably the biggest debate in the country)..

Now ANYWAY what I'm getting to is this. Are their any Muslim players in the comp ??? HMMM MMM Bachor HOuli??? Bacher HOuli is the only Muslim player who comes to mind and I've never heard him being ganged up on and booed?? So it seems that what would seem to be the biggest concern in regards to racism in Australia (unacceptable of Muslims by a minority eg Australian defense league etc) is not in anyway involved in the AFL ??

Alsoooo

Many indegenous players in the game who don't get booed.

ALSOOO

If it's the color of his skin that's attracting the boos ???

Hmmm let's see.

There is a guy who comes to mind in this department (Suss my username lads)....

Naitanui !!! Not to mention majak daw!! A Fijian and Sudanese with dark complexions who I have never seen booed by a a majority of people in a stadium... If anything the stadium and the fans admire these players especially big bad Nic nat!!

What I'm getting at is those who think it's racial based have no evidence to back up this claim.

We have dark skin complexion players who have never been booed by a majority in the stadium.

We have a player of religious believes who a minority of people in this country have problems/implications with yet we've never seen him been booed?

We have several dozen indegenous players yet none of them have been booed by a full stadium ?? (Other than lindsy for diving... Norf rofl) (jks nothing against north)..

Also by the way I in no way intend to bring in religion or skin complexion into this debate. I am just using them as examples to justify that the MAJORITY of the booing for gooses is not racially motivated. Surely their may be the odd ding bat who boos him for being indegenois. Just as their are a number of ding bats who racially vilify Muslims/middle easterners and Europeans Asians Africans etc.

Also by the way I am of European/middle eastern background with friends of various different backgrounds :)

Since his disgraceful appointment of Australian of the Year followed by an as disgraceful speach i have only listened to what he says in the media and what he says through his on field antics.
Can you point out to me what part of this is disgraceful?

Seriously, please point it out....

“It’s an honour to win an award for doing stuff that you love and that you believe in. For me, I chose that life is all about actions and interactions. I believe that our choices and how we interact with each other creates our relationships and this in turn creates the environment that we live in.

Our environment shapes our communities which then shapes the country that we all live in. Growing up as an indigenous Australian I have experienced my fair share of racism. While it has been difficult a lot of the time, it has also taught me a lot and also shaped my values and what I believe in today. I believe racism is a community issue which we all need to address and that’s why racism stops with me.

There are always two ways we can look at a situation. We can choose to get angry. Or not. We can choose to help others. Or not. Or choose to be offended. Or not. We can keep our silence or educate ourselves and others about racism and minority populations.

It is not just about taking responsibility for your own actions but speaking to your mates when they take out their anger on their loved ones, minority groups or make racist remarks. It means treating people the way you want to be treated, whether that’s your manners, the way you talk to people, whether they are your loved ones or the person serving your dinner. It’s about how you choose to give back and make a difference to those around you, your community or your country that goes outside of just yourself.

I believe we are all connected whether we like it or not. We are all equal and the same in so many ways. My hope is that we as a nation can break down the silos between races, break down those stereotypes of minority populations, indigenous populations and all other minority groups. I hope we can be proud of our heritage regardless of the colour of our skin and be proud to be Australian.

I’m not here to tell you what to think, or how to act to raise your children. All I’m here to do is tell you about my experiences and hope you choose to be aware of your actions and interactions so that together we can eliminate racism.

I’m so grateful for this award and this honour, however the real reward is when everyone is talking to their mates, to their families and their children, having those conversations and educating others about racism. What it looks like, how hurtful and how pointless it is and how we can eliminate it.

The ultimate reward is when all Australians see each other as equals and treat each other as equals. To me, everything is about people and the choices we make. I believe it’s the people and the interactions between us that makes this country so special. Thank you so much and have a great Australia Day.”

For the people who think Goodes should shut up- I assume you would not mind seeing Australia's 2100 population be made up of 90% Chinese and Mandarin become the official language and communism the political system ? Because that is the sort of domination the the Indigenous have faced, without a hint of exaggeration.
