Awesome stuff, love it :thumbsu:

I had to laugh at our key forward somehow leading our uncontested possession count. Amazing.

Yet he gets negative points and worst on ground in round 2?
I swear Champion Data statisticians have their heads too far up their own arses to see the game sometimes.
He wasn't that bad.

Not sure if we want or need this, but seeing as I'm the self proclaimed Statman, I decided to do it anyway. Unless we don't want it, I'll update our stats every week.

Some interesting team stats;

  • 1.7:1 kick/handball ratio easily highest in AFL
  • Despite many commenting on out disposal efficiency so far, we're only ranked 11th
  • Ranked third last for total hit-outs, suggest Sauce is becoming more effective around the ground?
  • .

Ranked 16th in Hitouts, yet ranked 4th in clearances, 2nd in centre breaks and 1st in I50s.
Shows how good our mids are going at the moment.

Also having the highest kick:handball ratio will mean disposal efficiency is low. Would also like to see the percentage of long kicks. I feel we are kicking longer than a lot of other teams as well as kicking to space at times. Ranked 8th further shows how we are kicking longer and moving the ball through the air rather by foot.

Yep 15 MI50

Do Mk minus CM for uncontested marks. For round 1, 15 marks, 3 contested.... 12 uncontested marks. Therefore only 4 more other uncontested posessions.

For round 2, there are are 11 marks, none of them contested, but 6 of them I50. 5 shots on goal.... 1 passed off to Charlie Cameron for an uncontested mark I50 and a goal.

If a player kicks for goals, and goes through as off hands on the full, it's a behind to the kicker. Do you know what constitutes a rushed behind in the situation? Does the ball need to go to ground off hands and then go through? If so, the higher amount could be due to us kicking for goal from too far out?

Don't know exactly, I'd suggest that the defender would have to have exhibited some degree of control. Certainly not understanding our kicking distances or executing poorly could lead to a rushed behind. And that would be something to work on. Despite that, a rushed behind implies adequate pressure deep forward, regardless of the reason behind the contest occurring so close to goals when we'd prefer it to be a direct score or the ball positioned in a more dangerous spot if we can't score.

The stat for me is the total amount of marks and mark differential. That is an indication of your ability to find space.

If you have space, you have time.

#1 for marks inside 50. Space and execution. Much better than relying on contested marking.
Effective clearances (not sure if that stat exists, but it should), Inside 50s, marks inside 50, goals/scores per i50, conversion rate.

Danoz, thanks for going to the trouble to compile all these stats. The stats that I'd really like to know are:
  • PW's ground balls and
  • the metres gained.
My guess is that these are only available to the club.

Yeah they're stats recorded by CD but not released to the public.

Let me know if you want me to continue with this or not.
Quoted for truth.

Complete reversal on interchange rationale. Bench rotations very high previous seasons. Low now as Walsh prefers. Have to work on disposal efficiency, rebound 50 and goal accuracy. Changers in the bottom half as well, don't know if under pressure or not under pressure re these.

Last time we lost to and beat certain teams.

Best streaks:
  • Haven't lost to North at home since 2003
  • Haven't lost to Sydney away since 2004
  • Haven't beaten Carlton at home since 2009
  • Haven't beaten Essendon, Richmond and Hawthorn away since 2009
  • Never lost to Gold Coast or the Giants
  • Haven't lost to St Kilda at all since 2011
  • Haven't beaten Hawthorn at all since 2011

Any chance of putting a number to these? Like how many games have we lost at home to Blues since 2009; It could be 1 for all I know (as in we often play them away).

Yeah sure. For the Blues that could actually be the last time we played them at home :P

Best streaks:
  • Haven't lost to North at home since 2003 - 8 match streak
  • Haven't lost to Sydney away since 2004 - 4 match streak
  • Haven't beaten Carlton at home since 2009 - 1 match streak
  • Haven't beaten Essendon, Richmond and Hawthorn away since 2009 (Richmond 2 match streak, Hawthorn 3, Essendon 1)
  • Never lost to Gold Coast or the Giants (Gold Coast 6, GWS 5)
  • Haven't lost to St Kilda at all since 2011 - 4 match streak
  • Haven't beaten Hawthorn at all since 2011 - 4 match streak
3 match streak of not beating Sydney at home
Must have missed this one too: haven't beaten Geelong away since 2003, which is a 7 match streak
