Also on the streaks, we have a chance to end some this year:

Lose to Sydney at the SCG in R18 and we lose a 4 match streak of away wins
Beat Geelong at Kardinia in R23 and we end a 7 match streak of losses
Lose to either Gold Coast R17/R6 or GWS in R8 and we end those streaks of wins
Beat St Kilda in R7 and we continue that streak of wins
Beat Hawthorn at home in R12 and we end a streak of four consecutive losses

Good thread. Keep it coming.

Any chance of a 'ground ball' stat? ;)
And the 'transition' stat that Walshy does his calendar around? I must to using a combined stat of i50 + r50's when picking some players for the offseason draft game. I love types who have a high combined total for my HBF's, wingers (and to a lesser degree mids and HFFs). I was super pumped to hear Walshy talk about it as the two ladders on his desk. (Admittedly my data and the easy data you can pull together doesn't show the r50's that lead to i50's... not sure you could get your hands on that without a club based subscription to champion data!)

I love this shit ;)

I want to know where I can get weekly AFL rating points.. or points awarded by game. Anyone know where?
Only place I can find it at the moment is by following the AFL Player Ratings twitter handle. But then it's only in graph form, and sometimes they miss games.

I asked Champion_Data last year if they are going to start releasing the weekly numbers to the public, and they said it's in the works.

This is very good Danoz but I think the team stats would be more accurate if you focused on the differential for each stat rather than total numbers or even averages.

Differential at least gives context to the stats. For example look how we jumped up in hitouts and uncontested possessions dropping due to the conditions (a lot of stoppages not much loose ball and uncontested mark chains).
Differential at least compares us to our direct opposition who was also in those same conditions. They then give an average of our differential along the way, which aren't influenced by the conditions or the style of an individual game.

I do. Table has both differential to league mean and to direct opposition.

Number of players in the top 150 player ratings per team:
  • Adelaide: 8
  • Brisbane: 8
  • Carlton: 6
  • Collingwood: 5
  • Essendon: 10
  • Fremantle: 10
  • GWS: 9
  • Geelong: 9
  • Gold Coast: 8
  • Hawthorn: 15
  • Melbourne: 5
  • North: 11
  • Port Adelaide: 10
  • Richmond: 8
  • St Kilda: 4
  • Sydney: 10
  • West Coast: 9
  • Western Bulldogs: 5
Doesn't necessarily equate to being a good team but it's clear that struggling teams have fewer top players.

Also worth noting that key players for us like Talia, Lynch, Walker, B. Crouch and VB all sit below 200. And Jenkins is above Walker.

Possibly not surprising, depending on how it is calculated - and over what period. Don't forget that Tex has only been back for just under 12 months, having missed the previous year due to an ACL. If it's over a 2-year window, then he would have only played in half those games.

Contested Possessions = Free Kicks + Contested Marks + Groundball Gets + Possessions from Hitout to Advantage

Groundball Gets = Hardball Gets + Looseball Gets

Hardball = Ball is in dispute and you physically beat an opponent to win the ball. (almost getting tackled as you get it)
Looseball = Ball is in dispute and you beat your opponent to the ball. (read it off a pack, intercept an oppo handball, etc.)
Thanks CD, is there a way for the average punter to see these stats?

I believe players are rated by the last 40 games, walker being injured would have a lot of zeros in there, 40 games after his injury, you will see his real ranking.

You'd think in rd 8 he'll start knocking off those zeros. Missed 22 games I think?
