Has anyone lived in Mile End and the northern part of Glenelg? And what was better? Cheers.

The first house I bought was in Mile End. I've always liked the area but it took a while to catch on. Close to the city but traditionally the inner western suburbs where the last to catch fire in terms of demand. Typical Adelaide inner suburbs architecture. Classic turn of the century sandstone villas and maisonettes. Large Greek population. Some decent pubs close by including the Wheatsheaf, the Mile End and the Hilton. Thebby Theartre is right there too. Lots of restaurants along Henley Beach Road. Getting more and more gentrified but still has a grungy element.

By northern part of Glenelg, do you mean Glenelg North? My Folks live in Glenelg itself, which is quite busy by Adelaide standards. Glenelg North is a bit more suburban, particularly the further away from the beach you go. Never lived there myself, but saying that I probably would prefer Mele End because I'm not an overly beachy kind of guy and prefer being in a more central location. So Mile End for me, but I'm sure others would go the other way.

Mile End would stink less too

Behind the footy oval in Glenelg, so in between the northern and eastern section of the suburb I guess. Is it a decent swimming beach? Or is it more like the shitty 'be seen here' sort of beachside suburbs like Cottesloe or Bondi or something?

Yeah that's more Glenelg East. Whitebread middle class suburb. Pleasant Enough. Glenelg is an okay beach but it is the most popular and well known so it does get the full spectrum of bogans, posers, tourists and immigrants.
