Hey guys, We are heading over to Adelaide for a week in April, so I've come to this thread for advice on things to do. So far the only thing anybody can suggest is to see the Pandas at the zoo & go to Haighs.

Adelaide is the only city in Oz I haven't been to so I really have no idea on the must sees/do's.

What are you interested in doing? If your are into food / drink, there are lots of great places around the city these days. Beaches are a must visit, wine regions (Barossa, Hills, McLaren Vale) are world class.

A POPULAR family-owned supermarket in Adelaide has been named the world’s best international retailer by its global peers.

The Chapleys-owned Frewville Foodland won the International Retailer of the Year excellence award at the IGA Conference in the US.

Family firm Commercial Retail Group’s director Nick Chapley was at hand to receive the annual award presented by the Independent Grocers Alliance (IGA), which was founded in 1962, and operates in more than 30 countries.

Frewville won the national award last year, representing Australia in the global awards.
World's. Best. Supermarket. Take that Sydney Harbour.

SA beaches are pretty over rated by the locals. The only thing going for them is that they don't have a rip, (which also means no waves) but geez the water is bloody freezing compared to the east coast. There is a reason that the east coast has a far bigger beach culture than we do here in Adelaide.

Some quick ones

Hahndorf
Kangaroo Island
McLaren Vale wineries
SA beaches
South parkland public toilets
Snowtown

We got it all
Snowtown as an attraction sealed it for me I hear its a barrel of laughs

I feel sorry for Snowtown. They'll forever be tarnished with the bodies in the barrels even though all but one of the murders occurred near Waterloo Corner in the notorious northern suburbs.

A couple of South Australia's finest young lads.

In other discussions though, **** we're so lucky for the city to be so close to some magnificent hill areas and conservation parks. Cycling up the old freeway, stunning descents, running up Mt Lofty or Morialta, Belair or Waite... Great place to live on that front.

I don't think anyone truly rates them up there with the east coast beaches, especially ones near city centres. Nor beaches out west and up to Broome.

Get out of the city beaches though and they're pretty schmick in the context of things.

It's my local, and it's ******* amazing.

Except for the week after this award, when people from all over the place busied it up for a while. Heard some old bugger drove an hour and a half to check the place out.
I'd prefer a decent boozer in the area, all the pubs around there area are ghastly.

Cremorne is about the only one I would half recommend, mostly because the food is tops and comparatively affordable.

Right, so if we're up to me, and I'm in no way sure if from a state/federal legal thingy how it would go down, but I'd legalise gay marriage, weed, go hard on nuclear and develop the shit out if the Southwest parklands and that ridiculous horse paddock between Lefevere and Robe Tce and crucify Anne Moran in Victoria Square.

I'd prefer a public stoning to be honest - and I'll gladly throw the first stone!

Also add the vacant block on O'Connell Street which has been there for 20 ****ing years. Great area but what an eyesore.
