Health editor Jill Margo has this report on the speed of the South Australian virus strain, which authorities say has a very short incubation period and can make people infectious to others within one to three days after exposure:

The virus can go from one person to another, making them infectious, all within three days.

“This strain has a very, very short incubation period. When a person is exposed, it takes 24 hours or less for them to become infectious to others,” says Chief Public Health Officer for SA, Professor Nicola Spurrier.

We're on probation between lockdowns. At the first hint of cases, we're shut again. This has been going on since March and shows no signs of the government coming up with an actual plan. Just lockdown healthy fit people and decimate business as much as possible. They have their covid blinkers on

What I typed out was less about 'government taking my freedoms' and more about people's absurd obsession with covid. There are bigger and more frequent issues out there that literally no one gives a **** about. Covid must be zero at all costs with no big picture thought!

Cancer follow-up screenings down 40% this year. You don't think that will have huge impacts? doesn't matter though, it's not covid
An additional 12,000 SA residents, including 5,000 children, are forecasts to go into poverty this year, on top of the usual amount. Doesn't matter though, it's not covid.

Many more people will never recover from this year than covid will hurt. People have lost all perspective just cheering this thing to zero like a hobby

250k deaths in the US suggests that our approach is the correct one. The economic and social cost of those deaths will far, far exceed that of those countries that locked down in order to suppress the spread of the virus.

Mount Gambier or Renmark were closer to "outbreaks" in the victoria cases than these ones. Shutting down regional places seems a bit idiotic and unnecessary, but if they didnt, how many of us would have fled yesterday? Id have been out in a flash...
