Geez this thread went quiet. Crazy to think we're a day away from Fringe starting again. Anyone doing anything special/going to any shows? There's a market in Ebenezer Place i'm working Friday & Saturday night - thankfully dodging todays heat

I have an interview for a job in Adelaide next week.

Which suburbs can I move to where I'm not going wind up in a barrel?
Hackham , Elizabeth Downs, Angle Park, Ottoway all have their charms

Further north or south of the CBD you go, sketchier it gets. I always treated Grand Junction Rd as the line.

Beyond that, go west if you like the beach, east if you like the hills. Apart from a handful of suburbs, most of Adelaide feels pretty indistinct.

job is in noarlunga so hackham maybe ok

ive never set foot in SA in my life so i know nothing about the place
Seaford is ideal

Christies Beach or Seaford the way to go.

+1 for Henley Beach and living there if Adelaide based.

An afternoon session in the Bacchus Bar is time well spent!

I reckon Henley Beach is a great part of the world, I'd go somewhere around there if I moved to Adelaide.
good for you if you're able to purchase a million dollar plus house in Henley Beach.

we lived there 8 years ago, rented 3 bdr house 1 block from the beach for $440 a week, id reckon you'd have to pay an extra $200 on top of that if you were renting the same house today.

Be closer to 900 now id guess

Port Noarlunga is a decent suburb. Noarlunga itself and Noarlunga Downs however...

Yeah righto, well there ya go. My brother bought a decent unit there a couple years back and it was like $400k or so I think, 5 min walk from the Henley and 10 mins from the Ramsgate or thereabouts (oh and close to the beach I guess)

My nan freaked out because the British press were reporting it like Adelaide was burned to the ground.
Lived in the part of christie downs that became Morphett Vale at the time and remember being worried the fire would get us.

( TBF i was 7 )

Be worth alot more now!

Some 3 bed places in Henley going for 950 a week. Cant believe people would pay that to rent in Adelaide though. They need financial advisors badly if they do...

Market has skyrocketed post covid. Rental market particularly very expensive in adelaide. People having to offer 20-30% above stated weekly rent just to try to secure a rental.

Henleys gone nuts. Everyone wants to be there.

Grange is beautiful and a hell of a lot quieter than Henley.

*off topic Adelaide question...

Anyone remember a putt putt place on Port Road around where Dan Murphy's is now?

Was around the 80s. I had a memory tonight of it and enjoying it as a kid [emoji16]

Yes and I think you are spot on where it was.

Depends where you're working and your financial state. If working somewhere in the city, being close to a train/tram line will be beneficial. It's crazy hard to find a rental at the moment so unless you've got money to buy, you'll need to get onto looking for a place as soon as you can. Don't get roped into overpaying in the eastern burbs just for the hell of it unless you're wanting to be here a long time and send your kids to the schools. Just don't get a place in Kilburn as that's just a Russian roulette every day
