Flinders Ranges interest me.
I like nature and hiking.

Kangaroo Island.

I'd have to do my research if I was doing a road trip other the boarder.
Innamincka is nice, Burke and Wills country. Although a mate was there recently and said it's not what it used to be.

Parking in Hahndorf is ridiculous, council have bought a block of land and are going to build parking spots in it. My grandparents lived there in the 80’s and 90’s and it’s definitely not as charming as it used to be.
All over the world Instagram culture is ruining the good spots. Look at Santorini. People go there for that one iconic photograph, then you find a hidden gem and someone makes it popular and then it gets thrashed.

I was plotting out a Greek/Turkish holiday and was trying to find the quieter spots but are still great. Nothing worse than being surrounded by people when you want to absorb the surroundings.

I dis like instead reels.

But they get a he'll of a lot of views.

They show you a cool pic look where I am.
Not how they got there or much info.

Some of the reason I set up my own YT CH.
But its more of a hobby for me.
I considered switching to Youtube because I'm not overly interested in views or likes. For me it's more of an archive of places I've been for memories. I've also collected postcards which I can put on the wall of all the places I've been.

The only issue I have is I don't want to get caught behind the camera and miss out on the intracacies, the smells, the sounds, the wind sweeping across, the temperature changes, the micro sounds like bees, the feel of the surface as I walk on different surfaces, even bare footed. I already felt myself gravitating toward social approval in my content the more I posted so it's a bit of a trap.

The trip I went on the weekend didn't really have a lot of highlights but I do enjoy photographing the plantlife, the rolling hills, the elevation etc. But yeah, it's more of an archival thing more than seeking likes.

Interestingly, my one image posts or stories on Insta/Facebook get quite a bit of response, but my reels get virtually nothing. Most of my reels people flick off within 3 seconds. Less than 1 percent of people are watching the whole reel anyway. That's a whole new story which I was thinking about on my hike that people nowdays only have very short attention span and AI is making it shorter. People now won't watch a video (Myself guilty) to get an AI Summary.

Speaking about intra and reels world.

There's a new toy called Gimble.
Holds your phone straight and firm.
Ready to shoot those reels and vids.
I've thought about getting a body cam for my hikes with quick on and off features so I can archive some of my trips. I wish I had more of the rock scaling on Grampians and I don't think they're overly expensive.

Yeah a young mate of mine showed me vids of people video out in nature.
With AI bird and natural sounds WTAF.

YT is probably harder and takes more time than FB or intra reels.
Editing takes time.
Not a skill set i have but learning on my feet.

You can clip a camera on your back pack.
A gopro or intra360 types of cams.

I've got a gopro and it sucks. 25 minutes and it overheats. Biggest waste of money ever

I got 2 Go:Pros.

Hero5 and Gopro 13 both are very good.
I thought it killed the new one but a dodgy SD made it overheat .

But all good 👍 and working.

I don't understand. I bought it, first time using it, it shut down in 23 minutes for overheating. I downed the settings to 1080 and I think I got 35 minutes and I think I took it out of the case I had.

I could take the outer casing off but then it's not water proof, or I could drop framerate to 1080 but why then did I pay over $1K for a half assed camera.

That sux.

I was unsure which one to get when looking for a new camera.

So many around these days.

I settled on gopro.
I really like it.
Camera batteries doesn't last long.
But I got a battery pack to charge on the run.
Takes clear shots.

Maybe you got a lemon.

If you got a good phone you can get a gimble.

I think mine is the Hero 11, not the only one with issues.

Can you leave the case on and still have it run for a long time?

I'll look at my options. I'd just like to be able to record when I want, like some of the rock scrambles on Grampians were good to have seen without having to hold a camera. What would be even better if with AI you could run several hours of recordings and it could automatically set up a 5 minute video. From what I've seen from GoPro it's terrible.

Also GoPro threatened to take off all of my videos from the server after 60 days when I didn't renew. Their servers sucked anyway, It took me a whole week to upload a 20 minute video.

I use a software to edit my vids.
But it didn't like the new gopro ones but I worked it out.

As I said there's heaps on the market.
My brother got the DGI ones he likes them.

I use Youcut free version. Ads are a pain in the ass and they got rid of all the cool transitions without paying. It's usually just add all the videos I want, trim/split and trim, transition, then edit. Quick and easy.

If I'm going to do Youtube, I'll more than likely use a fixed body camera and hopefully there's some cool AI editing software I can use to cut down on time editing. Most of the time I just want to see the trail head, the main points of interest and any scrambling, or small interesting sections, track with elevation etc. I think 5 minutes max for a video. I'd prefer natural sounds than the music but I'd also need a d.mic to do it properly

I wanted to do the Grampians waterfalls video without music but could hear people talking, my breathing and wasn't good.

I use davinci resolve a mate does editing for a job.
He gave me a run down how it works.
Set up a pic for my profile.
Hes doing a 5 sec video at some point.
It's got good transitions.

The key is to do short vids and edit as you go.ive been told.

I didn't have the gopro on my hazard beach walk.i used my phone longer vids I'll need to sort out.

Lots of options out there.

I wasn't sure where to post but this seemed the appropriate place.

I think Hahndorf while has some character and charm about it has become an over-inflated pretentious Adelaide Hills weekend getaway. Was there on Saturday passing through to Kaitpo Forest and regret going through there. Way too many people, streets too narrow and congested and fwiw ruins the charm that should be. It seems to be the one place everyone raves about and the tourist hotspot again makes it less than appealing. I ended up stopping at Meadows and the bakery there was one of the best I've ever been to. Don't regret it.

Strathalbyn is sort of going that way too. Tanunda can be a little bit overwhelming tourist wise too.

Away from the crowds, they're all good places to visit, just the crowds like every where else ruin it.
Feel that's becoming more and more of a problem in SA though - tourism and population is booming so all our roads and little tourist towns are copping it. Pair that with the fear of going to the beach at the moment and those sorts of places will get hammered.

We've been looking at a few houses out in the hills as we're looking to buy our first home, mostly like Mt Barker and Nairne. But we've driving around a bit to suss out a lot of the places - Uraidla is definitely one of my favourites. Hahndorf is nice for a one off every now and then but way too stressful to get through.

If by booming you mean one of the slowest growth rates in the country, sure...
