The AFL couldn't organize a root in a knock shop.

I would trust the AFL to run:

  • A chook raffle

  • My hot cousin's wedding

  • A cutting edge sports science program

  • The United States presidency

  • A major Australian sport worth billions

One week into the AWFUL season and Steve "Mongrel Dog with 0 Flags" Hocking emails the women's coaches pleading with them to address stoppage congestion & defensive flooding beccause there isn't enough scoring.

Hmm.... do we know any other sports suffering from low scoring due to flooding & congestion?

Sure, its a new version of footy that needs to be tinkered with and I get that. But asking with the coaches to make changes one game into the year just comes across as unbelievably ******* amateurish. Surely these idiots MUST have noticed the women's league feverishly copying everything the men do in an effort to be more professional - was it so hard to imagine they'd implement AFL defensive tactics sooner or later?

So now they're rushing through more hurried and ill-considered rule changes.... yeah that's one way to make it more like the men's game. :$

They should rebrand and repackage the whole thing, like WWE is not about wrestling, it is about entertainment, so can call it AFL-W and not refer to it as football but just an entertainment spectacle and give up all pretense on it being a competition that was once based on something called Australian Rules Football.

There's only one problem with your proposal -

Entertainment has to be entertaining.

For all the goodwill and talk about progression and shit like that. This comp is going to be a massive PR disaster for the AFL and women's Sport.

In the past week, you can't go two hour without some numpty on radio claiming that the skills of the better juniors in girls competitions and that in 5-10 years the comp will be much better.

5-10 years???

They thought it was a massive coup to steal female athletes from other sports.
Didnt they learn from Izzy folau and the other dude?

Get some actual footy players. Its probably why some teams are winning.
In fact the top two teams have got good skills and attacking, whats wrong with that?

and the TV ratings. they had a massive novelty value last year, not this. Surely they're not stupid enough to work that out
