Worsfold said the Eagles had used the Gillard report to implement programs that would prevent a similar culture from ever developing again.

He said critics including Richmond great Kevin Bartlett, who believed the 2006 premiership should have a "black line" through it, did not know the full story.

"I think he (Bartlett) is just making an emotional comment on part of the information he's elected to believe" Worsfold said

Nice little slap there from Woosha

"And I still think I dealt with the things as they were presented to me and in a way that I felt I was able to with a lot of limitations obviously legally"

This is telling, and is exactly the reason I don't really blame Woosha, or club officials as much as some. The club (a workplace) can only dig so deep, just look at the Health Information and Medical Research part of the Privacy Act. That part of the act is the most strict and has barely been amended since '88, and more or less states that all organisations that provide a health service and hold health information are covered by the Privacy Act, regardless of size/service. By talking about or releasing information pertaining to drug addiction/abuse to anyone (media, AFL, families) the people waffling on about how the club wasn't open enough with the abuse of recreational drugs have no idea of the legal boning you/club doctors/club health professionals open themselves up to on multiple levels. WCE couldn't have shared information with any other organisation, including the AFL, without moving into territory that would leave them open to legal repercussions.

Exactly. Nothing further needs to be said!!

Disagree on allowing/tapping Nisbett to fall on his sword. The Board should of dismissed him. When you want to make a point, you normally do so by making the tough call at the top and not allowing someone to sneak away.
Think you will find that Nisbett did offer his resignation at the time this all blew up, but the Board declined his resignation!!

I'm a drug counsellor with six years of clinical experience and I can say this is fact
Our boys would have had less sleep. Less recovery time and more muscle fatigue from using drugs after games
There is not one bit of evidence that suggests using illicit drugs would enhance performance ...
This. SO much this. Beggars belief how people keep thinking it helped the team win that flag.

This is a game of repeated effort measured in inches and split seconds taking place over 2 hours.

I dare say if we didn't win it in 2006, we as supporters would be far more angry at the club for allowing it to fester. If they lost in 2006, do we really think they could've gone again after that Port then Collingwood game and beaten Geelong in 2007 even if Cousins didn't do his hamstring, knowing what we now know?

Sure they may not have hit it as hard after losing, but the issue would still have been there.

What disappoints me most is that what should have been readily apparent use of pharmaceuticals occurred right under Woosha's nose. Not the gear so much, as the other stuff Chick reported.

So the new leader of the moral majority Barry Halls opinion is worth a front page but the head Of ASADA at the time Richard Ings comes out and says no players were on drugs during the 06 GF and it doesn't rate a mention.
Definitely no Vic vendetta though.

This is the funniest part for me - do they think players were doing lines every time they went to the bench? They'd be absolutely cooked if they were on the gear during games

In my opinion it's got nothing even to do with drugs - some people have a vendetta against certain Clubs and will find any excuse to shoot them down. Of course ignorance does play a part where some can't differentiate between recreational and performance enhancing drugs. Eg Barry Hall and others. Some ex Vic footballers and Journalists have never forgiven the Eagles being the first interstate Club to win the Premiership Cup. Just my opinion of course for what it's worth!!

Time to bring back the second verse of our song I reckon
