The afl need to end the Anzac and/or Easter “traditions”

2079, 2163, 2231 - hawthorn-Geelong and melbourne-richmond both need the mcg
2095, 2190, 2258 - hawthorn-Geelong and Collingwood-Essendon both need the mcg

If we wait too long, they become unbreakable traditions and the controversy our grand children will go through will be some of the biggest to face this game in centuries

If we don’t break these “traditions” now, what do we do?

If only I could live long enough to see the look on Eddie's face when it happens.
Unfortunately, hawthorn-Geelong wasn’t established enough in 2011 for it to be an issue :(

I’m just trying to be proactive rather than shortsighted.

Not being critical BUT whats better? What are you suggesting, clubs playing permanently on Anzac Eve & Anzac Day have to swallow the interruption to their schedule both leading up to & after, I'm happy for my mob to not be involved.

Sure some clubs benefit but I'd hate to see Anzac Day being a North/Saints/Dogs game. The crowd is a big part of the day, even for event goers rather than died in the wool footy fanatics.

you cannot have ANZAC day on a religious holiday.

CFMEU will not stand for losing a public holiday and god trumps war

Subbing so that when Mark Robinson IV runs with it the great Grand kids can call him out on stealing your warning/

Hawks v Geelong can be at Geelong’s ground for once.

Problem solved. What’s next?

We should lock in playing Richmond in round 1 for the rest of the millennium

Given the state of the Blues finances, they may not be around long enough for that to be an issue.

Awesome

Good idea, let’s start by relocating the Showdown to Shanghai. Show the locals they’re being embraced by all of Adelaide not just Port. I think you’re onto something OP

Excellent post.
A Labor govt will simply bring back Easter Tuesday for Hawks v Cats. Problem solved.

Just make the Hawks Geelong game a Geelong home game at Skilled. Everyone has already lost interest in the rivalry and its only 2018. Just imagine how bored of it we would be by 2079.
OMG
You have no business talking common sense on this forum. How on earth can we operate with your sensible ideas messing things up.... ;)
