I'm shocked how this can happen when they clearly tell people to gamble responsibly?

The local football club had a group of young men who talked almost exclusively about what multis they were putting on for Friday night, then Saturday night.

It's pervasive, it's become part of socialization like alcohol - it's over. It's here to stay.
